Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Recent error that I can't tell what it is pointing too

So the attached image is of a tabbed UI that has a component loaded on an a5w page which has some google charts on it (obviously when I'm not getting this error message). Here is the flow of the login and the way the user gets to this screen.

    1) User logs in and goes through a login processing page to set a bunch of session variables.

    2) User is passed to an app launcher to figure out their device which if not mobile takes them to the tabbed UI version of the web application

    3) When the dashboard initially loads it loads a component called redirect which has the purpose of figuring out what type of client the user is (we have multiple clients who essentially use the same web application but with different buttons and functions and the main difference is what is on the dashboard). Once figured out I load the appropriate a5w page into the dashboard.

    4) For this particular client it should be the dashboard with some google charts on it, but instead occasionally this error pops up (which when someone does a refresh of the page usually goes away

The part that is throwing me off is below, and is weird as I've never once wrote that code so I'm not 100% sure what it is attempting to do, and believe it may just be a part of the underlining alpha anywhere code. Also, I don't know if there is a way for me to know if this error is pertaining to the component that does the redirect or if it is on the component that has the charts (definitely would help to narrow that down):
    Code:
    filefind.get_recurse()
I have been running the dashboard with these charts in place for a good 3 months without making any changes to either the redirect or the graphs components so another oddity of this whole situation. Hopefully someone else has come across this filefind.get_recurse() and may know where I need to go looking to find it.

filefind.get_recurse() requires additional parameters as explained in the documentation HERE

If you turn on the server Xbasic Error Log (it should be on by default), it will give more detail on where this error is occurring.

But is this a function that would have been written by the code alpha anywhere creates when creating say a component or an a5w page as I have never written that code and I searched both components xbasic and server side events to see if that code was anywhere to be found and couldn't find it. I'll go look at my error log and see if I can find it in there.

What happens if you comment the code out? Is there any if then statement around it that cause it to not run sometimes?

Also is this the log I am looking for A5XbasicErrorStackLog or is it a different xbasic log (I use always up to run my multiple a5 web instances so I don't know where I would go to look at my server settings as I don't have the little server icon down in my task bar which is the only way I know of how to get to the a5 web instance settings.

Re: Recent error that I can't tell what it is pointing too

Looks like this seems to be the culprit, and it seems to be happening on the component that does the a5w redirect based on the client type logging into the system. Not really sure what any of this means.

            Code:

I didn't right that code, nowhere in the server side xbasic or the xbasic on that component did I right the function filefind.get_recurse() so I can't even try to comment it out.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I'm facing the same issue on an IIS server.

I haven’t experienced this error in awhile and I think that may have been due to updates to alpha fixing an issue it created. If I ever see the error again I will report back on any solutions I use.
