Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Problem with repeating sections

This is an issue that has recently happened after an update to the latest official release.
In a ux with a repeating section the first click on a row other than row 1 that is the initial selected row will not change selection to that row.
If I click on another row then that row is selected and any subsequent row clicks moves the row selection as it should.

example 1; when I open the ux row 1 is selected in the repeating section. If I click on row 2 row 1 is still selected. If I click on row 3 then row 3 is selected and if I click on any other rows they are selected.
example 2; when I open the ux row 1 is selected in the repeating section. If I click on any other column than column 1 on any row the row is properly selected.

The first column is a textbox with an edit combo lookup. I thought it might have something to do with the lookup set to a callback but I tried using at render time but it still acts the same.

This is on all of my uxes with repeating sections.
This has the smell of a 'bug'
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks David but I don't think that is the same problem. I am trying to make a video but I can't get it to go to screencast. Hopefully I can get the video working.

        Here it is. no audio.

        http://screencast.com/t/d2gqZWQBU7r

I have closed and reopend the ux between each short clip.

In the first short clip I select the first column on the second row and as you can see the row selected stays at row 1.
I then select the first column on the next row and the selected row changes.
In the second clip I select the second column and the row selected changes.
In the third clip I select the first column on row 4 and the selected row remains at row 1.
I then select another row and the selected row changes.

          Re: Problem with repeating sections

Frank, gotta go with the old standby.

If you drop to a previous version does it fix the problem? If so, send it in as a bug report with a simplified UX that demonstrates the issue...

You could just send them this video, but you might get pushback and have to send the UX anyway.

            Re: Problem with repeating sections

Thanks Larry. Your point is well taken, however I just don't have the time to create a test case. I can't send the offending ux in since it relies on data from several tables and views. SO I am hoping that someone has this same problem and has figured out a way to fix. It is strange that it happens on all of my uxes that have a lookup for the first field. If I don't hear any confirmation in this forum then I will assume it is in the way I am doing the task.

              Re: Problem with repeating sections

Frank, I am on build 3692-4772. I read your issue here, and went to test one of my repeating section ux components, and have the same issue. Not good, because when I change some data in the 2nd row, for example, that has code to change other data in the 2nd row, based on the change, it is changing the data in the first row, because the first row still has focus!!! It does seem to only happen if I click on a lookup field in the 2nd row, but not if I click in a simple text field.

I may do a video to demonstrate, so I can send in a bug report, and I'll post it here if I do.

I just tried a work around that seems to get around this. I just put {dialog.object}.setFocus('PAYOR_ID',1); in the client side onInitializeComplete event to set focus on the first field (PAYOR_ID) in row 1. That seems to be solving the issue for now.

I'll go deal with a bug report now....

I have created my own test case based on the video you showed, but my test case does NOT show the problem. Therefore, we will need a test case from you.

                    Re: Problem with repeating sections

Selwyn, did your test case have a edit-combo lookup field in it? Then, did you open a component that already had more than one row on it, and immediately click on the lookup field in the 2nd, or subsequent, row?

                      Re: Problem with repeating sections

Carol thanks for confirming this issue. After some more experimentation I have found that if I swap column 2 no lookup with column 1 lookup then the repeating section works OK. It is definitely caused by having a lookup in column 1. I have tried different variations of the lookup but no luck. I was not able to make your temporary solution work for me. I have not been able to find the right event to use it. My repeating section is contained in a panel card opened with a panel navigator tab buttons. I hope Selwyn can resolve this soon.

Frank, Selwyn just sent me an email saying the issue is now fixed. I'm assuming that means the fix will be in tomorrow's pre release build.
