Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    emailing from UX

I have created a a ux component that does email with mandrill API.... the inserted database fields I have in a javascript will not send in the html or text email body.
Emails come accross as no message in the email, just the subject line.

    Any help?

A search of mandrill resulted in 75 threads about it on this forum alone.

Including this one about Mandrill not working.

I don't use an emailing service, so I can't comment further.

Mandrill, as a free web email service, was discontinued... and rolled into MailChimp... as a paid for service. Too bad, because Alpha did a lot of work incorporating Mandrill.

Have a look in the release notes... http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/A...easenotes.html for information on SparkPost... similar to Mandrill.

I'm using the paid version of Mandrill just fine. If you're having a problem then it may be useful to see the Xbasic you're using to construct your email.

I am using a paid version of Mandrill .... with success. I am just looking for help or guidance to links, that will show me how to embed database fields into the body of an email/ sms message that gets sent. My email and sms is being distributed , just the data fields are not showing up.

              Thanks for any help.

                Re: emailing from UX

It's just string handling - you're constructing a string for the message with data. A very simple example:

                Code:
                . . .
                cn.execute(sql, args)
                rs = cn.resultSet()

                body_text = "The value from my table is " + rs.data("myfieldname") + "."
                . . .
                Does that help?

Are you sending the message using the sendemail function in xbasic or through a button email send using Mandrill's SMTP option or by using the Mandrill API?

In your original post, you say "the inserted database fields I have in javascript". What do you mean by that?

Are you trying to write a javascript function to talk to Mandrill?

You should be doing it in an Xbasic function using the tools provided by Alpha for calls to Mandrill. In Xbasic, you can just say e.datasubmitted.controlname to reference any field on your UX.

                        Re: emailing from UX

I am using Javascript on click event- and I have the Mandril API ( paid account) set up in it. I am doing it this way because it is what is referenced in training videos.

Is there any videos or documents that take me step by step to do this in Xbasic--- I am not very good with xbasic.

Or how will this work with what I already have set up in javascript and mandril. I will use whatever works and is easiest to program.

Please advise... and I greatly appreciate the time each of you have given me.
