Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to change NAVIGATION menu text to Arial from Times Roman

    The scourge of ALL my navigation menus is Times Roman & I can not find WHERE to change this to Arial. For the project, I use ModBlue as Project Style. Thanks.

    You change it in the CSS. Using the developer tools of the browser, find what css setting are affecting the menu, then go into that css file and change the font.

    If you do not know how to modify css, it's a useful skill to learn. Pat Bremkamp sometimes offers a very good CSS class. You should contact him if you want more info.

      Learning as I go along. I have made some CSS edits in the style. How to I change ALL the various items to font family: ARIAL?

      Do I need to go thru every item on the list & change to ARIAL if it is blank?

      I want to get rid of anything related to Times Roman font anywhere on my a5w pages. That includes navigation menus, grids...and any other parts. Times Roman has to be the ugliest FONT.

        try this and see if it helps.
        if there is a place to add local css in the navigation menu builder ( i do not use hence it will take time for me to investigate) there add these line
        .MobBluePage{
        font: 15px Arial;
        }

        change size and font to your liking and see if it works.
        i am sure you can do the same in the project level to get rid of the one you don't want and add something else.

          Find the style.css file for MobBlue in your Alpha installation, within the CSS folder, and make your changes there. Mine, as installed, does show Arial... there is no setting for Times New Roman in my file. The font-family is used in a number of places within the file so you'll need to change all occurrences.

            I agree with david.

            Open the css file in notepad and search out all the font tags.

              Here is a tip. The style.css is just plain text, so if you have a program like Notepad++ (which I highly recommend) then just open the style.css file in it and do a replace of Times with Arial. Then save, publish and you are in business.

              Also, if the font you want to replace or replace with is more that one word, like Lucida Bright, then you want to put that is quotes.
