Simple Grid with 1 table as source. The generated SQL has the string "FIRST 1 " inserted after the "SELECT" in the request. MySQL v5.7.# is returning an error and no records because "FIRST" is neither a function nor valid syntax keyword. How to work around this problem in AlphaAnywhere or in MySQL ? Is the use of "FIRST" pre 5.7 MySQL syntax or newer than 5.7 syntax ?
"SELECT FIRST 1 * FROM attribute;" running in MySQL workbench returns ..
Error Code: 1064. You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '1 * FROM attribute' at line 1
"SELECT * FROM attribute;" is OK when in the MySQL workbench but not from Alpha Anywhere (due to the automatically inserted string).
"SELECT FIRST 1 ID FROM chapters;" also fails so it shouldn't be because of a name or other syntax problem.
Remember I'm not adding the "FIRST 1" to the SQL in Alpha (you can't see it normally), but it shows up in the SQL trace when the GRID is opened (ui in a5w page opened via web browser as client). Manually submitting the SQL (outside of Alpha) without the "FIRST 1" or similar does work fine.
Alpha Anywhere v3.5 (v12.3, build 2999, addins 4519). Yes it's an old version but this project was an international NFP project (extra to our usual work), the University based research centre I worked for has closed so there is no $$$ for ongoing license (or support). Any assistance world be greatly appreciated.
