interestingly, i watched the videos JSON explained from alpha and in the third video, when selwyn types ?json_ the popup code complete shows json_regenerate function, but in mine it does not and it is not recognized at all. i know those videos were targeted at version 11. so something not good in mine. that is okay. i don't use that function.

The below works just fine for me Gandhi. But if I recall you're using version 11, and I'm betting there have been some changes especially related to JSON functions since then. Here's the entire content of an A5W page that does what I'd expect:

The code Selwyn provided is not working for me in the Live Preview, showvar is not recognized there. Steve code works perfectly.

Selwyn used showvar because that works when building off the code tab, and he probably didn't take the time (understandably so) to put this onto a web page. Showvar is not a function to be used on a web server. I use showvar quite a bit - build the code on the code tab, use showvar to see the results, and then when you know it's all good, paste it into the web component.

i agree it is easier with that function, given time one can do, with alpha, almost anything.
