Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Submit Location

In my phone gap application, I have a button that calls the action "Update, Inset, or Delete Data"
In that setup window, I select the option to "Submit Location"

    submitloc.png

On my phone within settings, my application has the following permissions "Camera, Location, Storage"

All the other data that I mapped in my Insert/Update action gets saved, however my location data is never saved. It has to be something simple, I'm just not seeing it. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Android? iOS? Is the Geolocation Plugin included in the Alpha PGB Builder?

      Re: Submit Location

It is happening on both Android and iOS. I'll double check the Geolocation Plugin but I'm fairly confident I included that. Would the app request location service permissions for any other reason?

      Thank You,
      Jeremy

        Re: Submit Location

I don't know your app so I can't answer that. In my tests, without the plugin, iOS will not save any part of the record. Android will save everything except Lat and Lon. With the Geolocation plugin included, and your Lat and Lon fields mapped properly, I'm not seeing an issue here.

You've not reported what version/build of Alpha you're using, and which PhoneGap Version you're using. SQL Server, MySQL? What data types are your RequestLattitude and RequestLongitude fields?

          Re: Submit Location

I have the Geolocation plugin included.
Using the latest version of Alpha Build 4254_4863.
I was on PhoneGap 6.4.0 but I redeployed to PhoneGap using the latest 6.5.0.
My Database is a hosted SQL Azure database and my Lat and Long Fields are varchar(50).

It doesn't make much sense why this doesn't work so I'm sure it is something very simple but it certainly isn't obvious to me. When I rebuilt the application using PhoneGap 6.5.0, I uninstalled the application on my Android Phone and Reinstalled the newly deployed application. When I got to the Submit Screen where I have the "Submit Location" checked, I was asked for permission to share my location and I said yes. However, my Lat and Long fields were NULL after the save but the other fields were correctly saved.

I "DO NOT" have the Lat and Long fields on my UX. I've set them in the properties dialog of the Action Javascript "Update, Insert, or Delete data (for use with an UNBOUND component)".

          Thanks

            Re: Submit Location

With a MySQL database I don't see an issue. I thought it might be your fieldnames, so I changed mine to RequestLatitude and RequestLongitude, but all is ok. The only way I can get the same results as you is by un-checking the Geolocation plugin. If you want to PM me your Azure details so that I can test against your database, I'd be happy to do that. That's the only difference between our tests.
