Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Font-Awesome problem -- What am I missing?

This is my problem (see below screenshot): Not all of the icons are rendering properly.

    ScreenShot_001.jpg

I've followed these directions provided by Alpha (using the latest font awesome files btw)...

    ScreenShot_002.jpg

I've also installed the latest files to C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V12\CSSIcons\font-awesome. I've restarted the developer.

I'm still not seeing all of the icons. Am I missing a step??

    -Thanks

When you select one of the icons that render incorrectly, does it display a box or the icon when it's inserted into your application?

I've republished my entire project too by the way. Forgot to mention that in my first post.

Be sure you've installed the font awesome .ttf fonts in Windows. I had the same problem and that fixed it for me.

It looks like font did not install. Locate the font awesome fonts in the install for Alpha Anywhere (CSSIcons folder), double-click the .TTF file and install the font. If prompted, replace the font. You will have to restart Alpha for the font changes to be detected in the icon picker, but you can quickly test to verify the font was installed by selecting one of the icons that appear not to render properly in Alpha Anywhere and previewing the selected image in the Specify Image dialog. The preview would be the second image you posted:

If the font awesome library is installed, the correct icon will render (no box)

"...in Windows" ?? ...I ran the .ttf from my desktop if that's what you meant.

I located the cssicons/font-awesome folder (in c:/programs(x86)/a5v12/ ..) and installed it again. Restarted Alpha Developer, still have these squares.

*sigh* ...I know this isn't rocket science and should be a 10 second fix at the most. But no matter what I do half of the font-awesome icons are squares.

do you need to reference the font-awesome css in the head portion or this is automatically done for you by alpha?

Alpha does it automatically. You just select the icon you want (in my case I use them in buttons) and it's there.

while you would expect flawless use and easy integration when you pay top dollars, if you have not found any solution yet, it is not that hard to use font-awesome icons. if you are open to the idea of doing it yourself - a less than 10 second fix,
do it in the head section
select the property, click insert, select css then
                  fill in
                  https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font...wesome.min.css
                  https://www.screencast.com/t/prHdlz91ETX0

edit: when you use the linked css files
(under section css linked files you add css/font-awesome.css)
css/font-awesome.css the live preview does not show well yet but in the browser it works well.

Kind of an odd comment coming from a guy who hasn't paid any dollars for his development environment in over 4 years.

Re: Font-Awesome problem -- What am I missing?

I feel there are 3 potential issues here.

                        1. In design mode, you're not seeing rendered icons in the selection dialog. I saw the same... I had about a dozen rectangular boxes. Probably the newer icons added recently. Installing the current ttf file solved this for me.

                        2. After installing the current ttf file I can see the rendered icons in the dialog... but... the icon will not show in the Specify Image dialog - where you pick an image type. This is because my font-awesome.min.css file was still out of date in my Project folder... C:\AlphaProjects\AlphaDatabases\AlphaTest\AlphaTest.WebProjects\Default.WebProject\CSS\CSSIcons\font-awesome\css.

                        2. Even though I can see the icons in the list in design mode, and the icon preview shows... the icon was still not appearing using LivePreview in a browser. This is because the C:\A5Webroot\LivePreview\CSS\CSSIcons\font-awesome\css\font-awesome.min.css file was still out of date.

Now... I install pre-releases over pre-releases all the time. Maybe something got messed up. Regardless... ensure the following:

                        1. You've installed the current ttf file
                        2. Your LivePreview folder (LivePreview\CSS\CSSIcons\font-awesome) has the latest files for it's css and fonts folders
                        3. Your target publishing folder (CSS\CSSIcons\font-awesome) has the latest files for it's css and fonts folders
