Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    CSS driving me crazy!

I have been working all day at this with no success. My grids are formatting fine. It's my UX's. They look fine until I use them as components in a tabbed_ui. Then they lose there css format. Viewing them in the Working Preview or placing them in there own .A5W file they are fine. What do I need to do?

I've attached jpg of all three options I have described above.
    Thanks!

check the css for tabbedui and the ux, they should be the same in order for it display properly.
the best way to do is define a project level css style and use that in all the components. then you don't have to think

        Re: CSS driving me crazy!

Gandhi fixed most of my problems with CSS Styling Issues in the UX Component but my controls were still "slamming" together with no padding. Finally figured out the problem. Default Property setting for a new UX control for "Layout Type" is "Container Width." Change that to "Control Width" and problem solved. It's the first property in UX, Properties...

I'm not into Mobile yet but for Desktop Browser this seems to work better so far.

okay, but i think that property is on the way out, if i am not mistaken. it may not be available soon. container width is better. if you post a screencast of what you have and what you want to have, i will see if anything needs to adjusted without resorting for that property.

a small information. if you go to the top and select settings and select signature then add what ever you want there it will appear in all the posts, see my signature. then you just need to update that and it will be always available. you don't have to type it always in the post.

          I'm not into Mobile yet
of course, very soon you will want it, so start planning from the beginning.

Marc, be aware that Control Width is deprecated... as stated in the dialog for that property.

The calling button on the tabbed ui hs an option called "use master style" make sure it is not checked then the css styles set in the ux component will be used.

                  Re: CSS driving me crazy!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I went through and checked everything in my TabbedUI, had un-checked the "Use Master Style" and added the different styles I tried in the UX Forms to "Additional Grid Styles" in the TabbedUI form. Still no go.

David. Where did you see that "Control Width" is deprecated? Gandhi also mentioned that but I can't find where it says that.

I attached to png files. One with Container Width set in UX and one with Control Width set...

                  Thanks

                    Re: CSS driving me crazy!

this is not due clash in css files, your ux has problems.
there are so many fields/properties to check, one has to have an access to your ux to do that.
as far as i know all input boxes have padding 4px or 5px, there is loss of that padding. so something else is removing that.
you need to spend time on your ux if not if you have teamviewer i can check it for you.

an example of simple dialog with container width alone or in a tabbedui. see the padding is intact.
