Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Update list value view button

    Hi guys

    Newbie here. Just cannot find solution to problem for mobile app.

    List control. (LIST_AUDIT)
    Two Fields only ID, Pass (a boolean field)

    No detailview.

    I set Pass to true/false via two buttons. I cannot however get the list dirty to enable save back to my database. The list change but does not become dirty.

    Code for pass button

    var listObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('LIST_AUDIT');
    listObj.setValue(rowNumber);
    //alert('you clicked on ' + rowNumber + ' and we have now given focus to this row');
    listObj.updateRow(rowNumber,{Pass: 'true'});
    {dialog.Object}.setDirty();

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Armand

    Re: Update list value view button

    If you want to use the "built-in" methodology to update a List Control, then the List must have a Detail View. You never have to show users the Detail View, but you would update controls in the detail view and then use .updateTableRow() to save those edits back to the List... which can then be synced.

    If you want to use the List without a Detail View, then you need to look after saving changes back to your table via an Xbasic Callback... doing all the work yourself in XBasic.

    Here are some notes from the doc about .updateRow()...

    Contrast the .updateTableRow() method with the List object's .updateRow() method.

    The .updateTableRow() method is the programmatic equivalent of the user entering some values into the List Detail view controls and then clicking on the Save button to save their changes back to the List. When the user does this, the List becomes dirty and the edits that have been made to the List can be synchronized with the server.

    The .updateRow() method is a low level method that updates the data in a row, but this method does not add the necessary information to the List to cause the List row that was edited to become dirty. It does also not add the ._oldData object to the List to store the original values that were in the List row before it was edited. The changes that were made to the List cannot be synchronized with the server.

      Re: Update list value view button

      Great. Thank you very much. It work when I update the control in the detail view.

      The only challenge now is that I cannot get the listview to refresh after I changed the value in the detail view control programmatically but before sync.
      I have tried the {dialog.object}._listRefreshRow('LIST_AUDIT'); and listObj.refresh(); but none is working.
      The list view currently only change the value after sync. Is this the intended behaviour?

        Re: Update list value view button

        After you make your Detail View edits, you call this...

        Code:
        var listObj = {dialog.object}.getControl("LIST1");
        listObj.updateListFromUXControls();
        This write the changes from the Detail View to the List Control. Then you can sync.

        The best thing to do is create a new UX and add a List Control. When you're typing in the name of your List control, you'll see a button light up in the New Control dialog... "List Control - Quick Setup Genie". Use that Genie and include the Detail View. Once you've selected all the options you want for the List and the List is created, you'll see a number of usual and standard buttons for the Detail View. Have a look at the code for each button.

        Overall, for a List with Detail View, you select a row from the List. The Detail View is populated. You edit, Save the changes back to the List, and sync the List data back to the database.
