Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Scale Picture in Mobile App Panel

What is the best way to scale image so all images will be the same size when displaying in a panel card? Is it an option in a image control?

Re: Scale Picture in Mobile App Panel

I am sure there are many ways to skin this cat, it's just what I do! I make a list with the image as my control and set it to fill the panel, then set the width of the panelcards with either a panel layout as in 50% or explicit. IF you want users to enjoy the pinch and zoom with a full scale image they can long press on it and open the image in a new tab courtesy of the Chrome browser - at least thats the way it works on my ipad - on a desktop right click and open image in a new tab...

SO that said, if you're intent on exact widths set the width of the panel card and the image control in the list as flex(1)
if that isn't what you are after postback, especially if you figured out how to do what you want!

Dave M showed today that you can in image control go to In-Line style, then go to Positioning and Size and set height and width of the image. However, mine is working in working preview but when I build it in phonegap and install it on my phone, the images don't show up?

Got it, had to put the size and height in the server side ln-line style instead of client side. I have it where you click on the image a video player plays a url that pulls from a database table. It works on the a5w page but in the phonegap built app, the video wont play. Any ideas what the issue could be there?

I am no expert on PG but I recall something about needing to load external resources and such, perhaps it is a problem with needing additional resources. Glad to hear you watched the wednesday Q&A - I couldn't make it but I make it a point to go back and watch ALL of them. Those guys, are really good at explaining things and they always try to keep in mind that not only could an experienced developer be watching but so could someone who is brand new to AS.

So you are saying I have to load something in order for the videos to play through a phonegap app?
