I have several questions about a mobile/phonegap app I am working on. I have watched lots of the videos and searched the wiki and message board to try to find some answers, but I haven't been too successful. So I'm wondering if someone can help me or point me in the right direction.
How do I set and use session or state variables?
How can I use those variables to update fields in the UX component Formview box?
What is the best way to mimic the 'field rules' when using Formview?
What is the best way to do drop down fields when using the Formview?
The web app we have now assigns 3 session variables when a user logs in. Compcode, district and userid (company code, office location and user login ID). When a user logs in the compcode and district variable restricts them to viewing/editing records for their company and office location. The userid is added to a field in whatever table they are accessing to record who added or modified the record. That little step is in the server events section. We also use the validation rules to do case conversion, make sure the middle initial field is only one character, etc., all those little settings we have for a grid or UX component.
So how do I make all those field validations work in a FormView box? Or is that all javascript to pull off those niceties?
Since data binding isn't used, how can I add code to update the fields list below with user name, etc whenever a new record is created or modified?
For drop down fields, what is the best way to load the data for those fields?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
compcode - Company code
district - office location
added - datetime field to record when added
addby - userid
addip - ip address of the user
modified - datetime field to record when modified
modby - userid
modip - ip address of the user
