Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Has anyone successfully called a SQL stored Procedure in a List with Arguments

If so could you please give me a sample as I get this error (below) and it won't get fixed unless I send a test case, and I can't due to the nature and size of the database.

SQL as in SQL Server or MySQL? The call to a Stored Procedure is different.

This looks more like you have a Javacsript error in your code. The error breaks JS processing and therefore the "toLowerCase" JS method is not available.

Does your Stored Proc work within it's SQL environment? What's the code you're using for the call?
What version/build of Alpha are you using?
UX? Grid? Data Source call? XBasic call?

To many variables... more details are needed.

Not able to send a sample but using a stored procedure to populate a list is very straight forward. Screenshot below if you think it'll help. SQL Server 2016 by the way.

SQL Server - the Stored Procedure works fine on the initial build of the list, until the UX is saved - the Stored Procedure throws the error.
        This works -
        EXEC spEventsView_02_DurationPatient '2017-05-31', 4187
This doesn't (After saving the UX)
        EXEC spEventsView_02_DurationPatient :VisitDate, :BPatientID

Here's the sample UX - it won't run as it can't call SQL, but you can atleast see what it is.

Thanks Mike - yes I have similar things running as well, it's just now in V12 as of this current build - I get this error once I edit it, so frustrating - thanks for answering.

Re: Has anyone successfully called a SQL stored Procedure in a List with Arguments

Looks like there's an issue with using an Argument with a Binding of "Set value at Run-time" and then pointing to a Control containing a Date. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a TextBox control set up as Date or Character.

However, using a session var... the List proc call doesn't mind. So use a session var for now.

Re: Has anyone successfully called a SQL stored Procedure in a List with Arguments

By the way, this only affects the List Builder. If you were to put a Static Value into your "Set value at Run-time" VisitDate Argument and then set up your List... all will be ok... as you know.

But, if you were to then switch the Static Value of your Argument to your TextBox control, {TodaysDate}, you'll get an error if you attempt to access the List Builder tabs... or click OK to save the List... but the List will render correctly... and without error.

So... you don't really need to use a session var. For now, just test with a Static Value for the Argument, and then change it to {TodaysDate} when the List design is done.

David - you reminded me of something I did years ago with this, and that was to ignore the error messages from AA and SQL and they don't matter, as the process of using a SP with as the source for a list is a VERY RAW process, almost lazy in design. I ended up getting it to work by changing the numeric based argument to text, the SQL complained - but it still saves and it works as you say when you run it - thanks for this reminder and your valued contribution to a solution. It was very important to me.

The List Builder has now been corrected for Arguments pointing to a Value of {uxControl}.

However, your "toLowerCase" original error was something else that you must have corrected.
