Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    why do you need the ux to filter the grid, is there something else to be done?
    or just have the grid add search and select the date and it will filter the grid is that not good in your situation?

    Re: show/hide using a date function?

    Right now in the UX i have a control that allows the user to select a date, a button, and an embedded grid.

    As it stands, the button forces a page refresh, and takes the value of the date control and saves it as a session variable. This session variable is used to filter the grid.

    The default value of the control for the date current is Session.Date, which is so that when the page refreshes, that selected date stays in the field.
    After applying your code, it properly does the show/hide, but the control for the date no longer keeps the variable on page refresh, rather, it reverts it to blank, and thus the grid cannot be drawn.

    Is it something from the show/hide expression that may have caused this, or something else I have missed?

    Thanks

    i need to digest that information. may be you can explain what actually in the ux/dialog.

    also the previous code may rewritten as
    Code:
    function myFunction(date_value) {
    j1 = new Date(date_value);
    j1 = j1.toFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    var dd = new Date();
    dd = dd.toFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    if (j1 == dd) {
    return true;
     }
     else {
     return false;
     }
    }

    Re: show/hide using a date function?

    Hi there,
    Thank you for the help, it does sort of work. I'm not super clear on how certain bits of alpha work so it may be my fault.
    I wrote in the JS function, and then on the clientside show/hide for the control (the button), i added the function and passed in the control that holds the date.
    So upon changing the date, the button shows/hides as expected, but that seems to have led to another problem...

    Currently as it stands, I change the date on my ux, and click an 'add filter' button to save the information to a session variable. The button forces a page refresh to redraw the embedded grid I have on it.
    Currently, the default value of the date field is set to the session variable so that on refresh the same value remains in the control. Once I added the code in, that value no longer stays in the control once the page refreshes, which also causes the grid not to draw since it depends on that date variable to filter.

    on the client side show/hide expression add
    myFunction(your_control_name)
    and in the javascript function add this code
    Code:
    function myFunction(date_value) {
    j1 = new Date(date_value);
    j1 = j1.getTime();
    var dd = new Date();
    dd = new Date(dd.getFullYear(),dd.getMonth(),dd.getDate());
    dd = dd.getTime();
    if (j1 == dd) {
    return true;
     }
     else {
     return false;
     }
    }
    and see if that works for you too.

    show/hide using a date function?

    Hi there,

    I'm currently trying to make a show/hide expression for a button, such that if today's date is not equal to the date of a control on my UX, the button will not show.
    I tried using a javascript function (the date is in mm/dd/yyyy format), but that always returned false. Anyone have an idea of how this can be done?

    Thanks
Working...
