Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • How to disable button right after click

    Hi! So i got a UX component with 2 textbox, a button, a hidden label and a grid. How it should work is when i input 2 date (as a range for search) in those 2 textbox and press the button, the grid'll show the correct data and the label will be set to "1" (as an indicator to tell the button to be disabled), and the button will be disabled. My problem is, the button only got disabled after the data finished loading, but I want it to get disabled right after i clicked it. I tried placing the code on the "onClick" and "onMouseDown" with the same result. And while i was testing, i realize that the button only got disabled if both of the textbox are empty, if i put a value in it, the button won't get disabled. How do i fix this? Thank you

    Here's the cod i wrote at the onClick
    Code:
    dim flag as c
    flag = "1"
    e.control.testDisablePreviewData = flag
    and at the enable expression properties of the button
    Code:
    testDisablePreviewData!=1

    Re: How to disable button right after click

    you should have some action on the button onClick event correct in that
    add this line as first line before calling the action you had previously and see if it works
    (this.disabled) = true;
    (this does not depend on the hidden label)
    thanks for reading

      Re: How to disable button right after click

      if you want to be fancy try this and see if it works okay
      Code:
      (this.innerHTML) = 'Loading...';
      (this.disabled) = true;
      your original action here;
      (this.innerHTML) = 'Original caption for the button';
      edit: parenthesis may not be needed, but i have them.

        This works like a charm! Thank you!
        But if I may add, is there a way for the button to get enabled again if either the value inside the 2 textboxt changed?
        I tried doing the same thing to the textbox (putting the code in the click event under the "javascript - touch, mouse, pointer events") saying
        Code:
        (BUTTON_2.disabled) = false
        and
        Code:
        (BUTTON_2.enabled) = true 'I don't know if this function exist or not though
        But none of them worked.

          To disable an object, you should be using:
          {dialog.Object}.setDisabled('BUTTON_1',true);
          and to enable the object:
          {dialog.Object}.setDisabled('BUTTON_1',false);
