Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    PhoneGap Build no longer works in version 12.3 Build 2682

    I have a simple Mobile App that I uploaded to PhoneGap Build. In Alpha Anywhere ver 12.3 Build 2682 it uses Phone Gap ver 3.63. It works in dev, but cannot be published to the Android store. According to Google:
    "This app uses software that contains security vulnerabilities for users or allows the collection of user data without proper disclosure.
    ...The vulnerabilities were fixed in Apache Cordova v.4.1.1 or higher.
    When I change the version number in the config.xml file to the necessary cli-5.4.1, the app, which is simply a single screen with some linked buttons no longer works; the background image does not show, and the buttons do not open the linked URLs.
    Is there a simple way to fix this problem without upgrading to a more recent version of Alpha Anywhere?

    it sounds like you may need to include the additional resources again.

      Hi Charles, Can you be more specific, as I don't know which resources you mean and how to include them again. Thanks.

        Note: XML files are sensitive to format changes: back up the original xml file before changing it.
        The solution is to add this to the config.xml file in the www folder of your phonegap progect:
        Code:
        <gap:plugin name="cordova-plugin-whitelist" source="npm" />
        	<access origin="*"/>
        	<allow-navigation href="https://yourproject.com/*" />
        	<allow-navigation href="https://yourproject2.com/*" />
        I also added
        Code:
        <content src="index.html" />
        after </author>
        at the beginning of the config.xml file.

        Remove any old plug in names from the config.xml file. [use the newer "npm" format]
        Change the version number of the "phonegap-version" to the latest number.
        Remove the <access origin="*"/> before selecting the phonegap button in Alpha Anywhere, as it will cause an error.
        Once you have the config.xml file the way you want it, it is easier to just save a copy, select "Save" instead of " "Save and upload to Phonegap Build". Then replace the generated config.xml file with your saved copy. Then select "Submit project to Phonegap build".
        If you have external websites that you need to open, you will also need to specify those using
        Code:
         <access origin="http://cdn.example.domain/*" />
        See: https://github.com/jessemonroy650/to...list-system.md
        From Stack Overflow:
        allow-navigation

        Controls which URLs the WebView itself can be navigated to. Applies to top-level navigations only.

        allow-intent

        Controls which URLs the app is allowed to ask the system to open. By default, no external URLs are allowed.
