Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Displaying pdf report in mobile UX panel

    I can display the report but I can't scroll it so the user only sees the upper left portion of the report.

    I've tried setting the panel or report style as follows:
    height: 11in; width: 8in; overflow: scroll;

    But it won't scroll.

    If i use:
    height: 4in; width: 3in; overflow: scroll;
    The entire page of the report is displayed and it's tiny.

    Must be a simple solution to this.

    Have you looked into dev tools in chrome to get the name of the container it's in? Perhaps you can tweak the window object client side in onrendercomplete ( I think) to allow scrolling. My guess is that your style tweak for overflow scroll isn't being applied to the object you intend. I can look when I get home tonight, at one of my components where I did something similar.
    Sounds like the report is filling the available space when it renders.

        Re: Displaying pdf report in mobile UX panel

        Ok, I found the solution that worked for me. Instead of setting the iFrame size to the full height of the report, just set it to the available size in the view port of the panel - try 500px for a height. Set the width to the full width of your report. If your Report is 8.5X11in you will have scroll bars.
        I am assuming your opening the report in a panel card.
        I think what's happening is the PDF is opening full size when all you can see is the upper left corner - like I said set the width to full report width. I design all reports to fit on 8.5in X 11in so when I set up the iFrame style I always use 8.5in on the width there.
        Good Luck!

          By the way setting the height to 100% for the iFrame works great and allows for the scroll bar as needed.

            Re: Displaying pdf report in mobile UX panel

            If you choose "Panel" as the target, Alpha creates a div. I do not know how to make that div scrollable on iOS (iPads). My solution works perfect on a desktop browser. If you want to make a compatible solution without any additional work use a "Window", set H and W to 100% untick "Dock" and the close button, unless you need one - chances are your window will already have one available without the need to specify.
            Window - as a solution works on a desktop browser, and a touch device with the ability to scroll without any hand coding.

              Yes.

              What iframe are you referring to, Charles?

                If I make it a window at 100% it overlays the panel with the entire page shrunk down to iPhone size. No good.

                  Re: Displaying pdf report in mobile UX panel

                  When you select Panel as the Target the next two options respectively are Target Panel and then Target iFrame Style
                  If you run it and look in dev tools you will see that there is a div that is created and the pdf viewer sits within it in an iframe. Like you I had trouble with scrolling on mobile devices, yet the desktop worked as expected. The lack of scrolling in the iframe created by AS with the pdf viewer (if of course I am seeing it right) means we would have to add it ourselves somehow to the viewers iframe which I found impossible to do.
                  I have had some luck with iscroll
                  http://iscrolljs.com/
                  So in my panel card I created text with a div and set the style of the text to add a 50px margin this div is draggable (the margins are where you can stick a finger to grab the PDF viewer) thanks to iscroll

                  The text for the div on the panel card is:

                  Code:
                  <body onload="loaded()">
                  <div id="scroller"></div>
                  </body>
                  The JS function "loaded"
                  is:

                  Code:
                  var myScroll;

                  function loaded () {
                  	myScroll = new IScroll('#scroller', { mouseWheel: true });
                  }

                  document.addEventListener('touchmove', function (e) { e.preventDefault(); }, isPassive() ? {
                  	capture: false,
                  	passive: false
                  } : false);

                  I put this in OnDialogRender (server-side)
                  Code:
                  e.html = strtran(e.html,"<script src= \"iscroll.js\"></script>")
                  and of course you need the iscroll js file on the server and I put it as additional in the UX properties.
                  Anyways, I have no clue what I am doing but I can now drag the dang thing around on an ipad and I think THAT is what you were after!
                  I am sure theres a better solution at the iframe level of the PDF viewer but I don't know it!

                    Thanks Charles.

                    Did you use iscroll or iscroll-lite?

                      The code I posted in the function lists iscroll, but i am currently using the zoom version either way it doesnt work exactly as you might expect as i am still only scrolling and dragging the wrapper around the container, the PDF viewer itself still isn't draggable, but again i can move it around inside the wrapper div.
