Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Step Indicator Issues Problem with 4.4.5 version

    I wonder if anyone else have been using the step indicator provided by alpha?I`m using it for one of my project and I`m having problem now.

    Last time when i build my component using Alpha Anywhere version 4.4.4 build 4346_4889 , my step indicator went well.But when i upgrade to the new release version of 4.4.5 Build 4491_4932 it keep giving me the error "unable to set properties 'STEPINDICATOR' of undefined or null reference".

    I only have a step indicator of id StepIndicator and i only set it using this javascript function , {dialog.object}.setValue('StepIndicator','0'); or {dialog.object}.setValue('StepIndicator','1'); or {dialog.object}.setValue('StepIndicator','2'); .This approached works well during the previous build . But in the new version of alpha,4.4.5 it giving me as below error

    step indicator error.PNG
    Below is the step indicator that work using the Alpha Anywhere version 4.4.4 build 4346_4889.

    Re: Step Indicator Issues Problem with 4.4.5 version

    I just tried a test UX I built when the Step Indicator was released. I tried this UX under 4346 and 4491... no issues.

    I just added a button and added another .setValue... no issues.

    Open the Control Properties for your Step Indicator, and then click OK. Also try Menu, Recalculate All Controls, when the UX is open is design mode.

          Build a new, simple UX with a Step Indicator... confirm that it fails... and post it here.

            As per your suggestion, I build just a simple component with a step indicator build using 4.4.5 build

            version 4.4.5 i get this error

            steperror.PNG

            then i run again the same component using 4.4.4 build

            stepnoerror.PNG

            Below is the component which i build using 4.4.5 and test for above result

              Re: Step Indicator Issues Problem with 4.4.5 version

              Works fine here, I added a numeric text box and a button, used the following javascript on the button and everything is fine in build 4491- 4932

              var stepValue={dialog.object}.getValue('value');
              stepValue=stepValue-1;
              {dialog.object}.setValue('StepIndicator',stepValue);
              Maybe worth doing a full re-install

                  Re: Step Indicator Issues Problem with 4.4.5 version

                  No issues here with your UX. Your UX only contains the StepIndicator control... nothing else... no code. Try re-installing the 4491 patch... or the full 4491 install.
