Setting a value on label from a table

When the user logs in, I am trying to set a label to show the department they are in. I've tried data binding, but it only sets the first department entry in the table. Is there a way to set the data binding so it will pick the correct department based off the username? My table consists of E_id, First_name, Last_name, Department, Shift, Hours, Phone_number, User_name. E_id is the primary key.

If you are simply binding the ux to a table, then loading all the records, this is what you will get.

You need to filter your select statement for the UX.

You can do that with an argument, with a page variable or many other ways - it all depends on your app and your needs.

For instance, is the userID stored in a session variable? If so, you can use that to filter your table based on that session variable.

There's actually a few ways to do what I am guessing you want - but you're going to have to be way more specific in what you're trying to do.
For instance, if you already HAVE the department name in the table your data-binding to you should be able to show it.

If the department name is in another table separate from the table your actually showing data from that's another thing.

My guess is this is a shell like component, where you want a user to log in and then there's a field that says: "You're a Manager" maybe at the top?

SO the idea would be, you know the USERID (email?) and all you need to do is get the department name where the userid matches the userid of the logged in user.
