Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    List xbasic Custom data source type with javascript function

    I can't get to work the javascript callback to assign a value. What could be wrong? the variable e.__javascriptFunctionResults is always empty
    Captura.JPG

    and the codes are:

    JAVASCRIPT
    function COMMENTSJS() {
    return 'explodedSlice=3';
    }

    XBASIC
    function COMMENTS as c (e as p)
    dim postselected as c

    dim e.__javascriptFunctionResults as c = default "1"
    if e.__javascriptFunctionResults <> "" then
    postselected = word(e.__javascriptFunctionResults,2,"=")
    end if

    dim Response as p
    dim Request as p
    Request.Host = "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/"
    Request.Page = "posts/"+postselected+"/comments"
    Request.Header = "Content-Type: application/json"
    Response = http_fetch(Request)

    dim resultPointer as P
    resultPointer = json_parse(Response.body)

    if a5_eval_valid(Response.body) then
    if json_enumerate(Response.body)
    dim imprimir2[0] as P
    FOR EACH row IN resultPointer
    imprimir2[].id = row.id
    imprimir2[..].name = row.name
    imprimir2[..].email = row.email
    imprimir2[..].body = row.body
    NEXT
    dim jsonVar as C
    jsonVar = json_generate(imprimir2)
    COMMENTS = jsonVar

    else

    dim imprimir2[0] as P
    imprimir2[].id = "id"
    imprimir2[..].name = "name "+postselected+" resultado"
    imprimir2[..].email = "email"
    imprimir2[..].body = "body"
    dim jsonVar as C
    jsonVar = json_generate(imprimir2)
    COMMENTS = jsonVar

    end if
    else
    COMMENTS = "console.log('error');"

    end if
    end function

    What are you trying to do here? I believe you can use an xbasic function OR a javascript function to populate a list, but not both.

      Re: List xbasic Custom data source type with javascript function

      Francisco is working with a List Custom Data source which allows for an Xbasic function (returns data for the List Control) and a Javascript function which passes data into the Xbasic function.

      Francisco... I believe the Javascript function is not firing... I'm looking into this.

      As well, I believe you're doing a bit too much work in your Xbasic function. The Response.body is already a Javascript array of objects. You don't need to do any more than this...

      Code:
      comments = Response.body
      And, just as an aside... don't use caps for function names. Use camelCase or CamelCaps... e.g. Comments... commentsJS

          Re: List xbasic Custom data source type with javascript function

          Found the problem! The javascript value only is available when refreshing the list, so all I had to do is on the parent list do not allow null selection, and onselect refreshing the list, here is my code

          JAVASCRIPT

          function CommentsJS() {
          var selected = {dialog.Object}.listGetValue('LST_POST','id');
          console.log(selected);
          return selected;
          }

          XBASIC

          function Comments as c (e as p)
          dim postselected as c
          dim e.__javascriptFunctionResults as c = default "1"
          postselected = e.__javascriptFunctionResults

          dim Response as p
          dim Request as p
          Request.Host = "https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/"
          Request.Page = "posts/"+postselected+"/comments"
          Request.Header = "Content-Type: application/json"
          Response = http_fetch(Request)

          dim resultPointer as P
          resultPointer = json_parse(Response.body)

          if a5_eval_valid(Response.body) then
          if json_enumerate(Response.body)
          Comments = Response.body

          else

          dim imprimir2[0] as P
          imprimir2[].id = "id"
          imprimir2[..].name = "name "+postselected+" resultado"
          imprimir2[..].email = "email"
          imprimir2[..].body = "body"
          dim jsonVar as C
          jsonVar = json_generate(imprimir2)
          Comments = jsonVar

          end if
          else
          Comments = "console.log('error');"

          end if
          end function

            Re: List xbasic Custom data source type with javascript function

            I feel the problem is still that the Javascript function should be running When the List Control is run... at any time.

            You didn't mention that you're in a Parent/Child List setup... that's important information and should be detailed in a posting. Knowing this, and how you're using the parent list value to get data from the web service, you do not need to use a List Custom Data Javascript function at all.

            The parent List Control value is available in Xbasic... in e.dataSubmitted.

            Clear the List Control Custom Javascript function name.

            In XBasic you can comment out all that code for e.__javascriptFunctionResults.

            Turn on the Child List Property "Delay render till explicit refresh".

            In Xbasic add this...

            Code:
            dim postSelected as c
            postSelected = e.dataSubmitted.LST_POST
            Note I'm using camelCase for postSelected... so change postSelected in your http call (or not... up to you).

              Re: List xbasic Custom data source type with javascript function

              The List Control Custom Data source, Javascript function is operating correctly. The function only runs on an Ajax Callback... and a List refresh is an Ajax Callback.
