Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Ink Control on a report w/ background

I wish there was a way to print the entire ink page to a report without having to use the a5_ink_to_png function with the flagUseViewBox parameter set to .T.

By default it seems that the ink image when printed, is sized to the size of the ink instead of sized to the entire ink page.
The a5_ink_to_png function allows us to size the image to the entire page but we have to go through the hassle of outputting to a PNG file which is then printed.

What would be good is if there was a similar parameter on the ink object in the report tool that specifies that the ink image should be printed entire ink page.

That is why users complain of only a certain section of the ink image being printed.

      See the release document :

      http://aadocuments.s3.amazonaws.com/...easeNotes.Html

      with the following quote :

a5_ink_to_png() Function - This function now has a new parameter that lets you control how the image is created from the ink. Previously, the image was bound to the size of the ink with a 20px border. Now you can size the image to the entire ink page, not just the bounds of the ink text.
The new optional parameter is flagUseViewBox. This defaults to .f. (size the image to the bound of the ink). Set to .t. to size the image to the entire ink page.
      Syntax:
      a5_ink_to_png(c ink ,n heightInPoints,n widthInPoints,c filename ,l flagUseViewBox)

Re: Ink Control on a report w/ background

Is this post about printing the Ink Control Data + optional Ink Data Background Image, or printing an image as the full background for a report. I assumed the post was about the Ink Control with a Saved Background (in the Ink Control). The video quoted shows an ink control, and a report background, as 2 separate items. It talks about other stuff but never shows it.

Yes ... at least that was my intention. I actually can get the ink control + saved background to print in a report but it doesn't print the entire thing. If the actual ink markings don't go edge to edge (and they never would) the image printed is cut off. Post #17 may be the solution ...but I haven't tried it yet.

Ok... so how did you get your Ink+Image Background to print in a report?

Re: Ink Control on a report w/ background

I described how in post #7 and the video in post #15 describes the same method ....sorry if I wasn't clear.

Edit Data Source Definition > Advanced Options > Override field definitions > Set the column with ink data to "Ink Image"

Then just place the control onto the report like any other.

Re: Ink Control on a report w/ background

Ok... thanks... this is the method to use if you want to work with Ink Data + Base64 Image Background. You can also utilize an image filename, but working with a filename is different for a report.

The function a5_composite_picture_and_ink() is also useful... and the scaling issue you mention may be this... if you're using Windows 10...

Yeah, using Windows 10. Thanks for the info.

Re: Ink Control on a report w/ background

That info about Windows 10 is a bit out of date. As of the April 2017 Windows 10 release, those options are no longer available. With current releases you get a Scale and layout section, with an option for Custom scaling. I like scaling set to 125%, but that creates an issue for reports. At 100% everything in Windows is too small... given my monitors, settings, etc.
