Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Error Creating Splash Screen

    Hi All,

I've managed to sort the error by updating to the latest Patch. Next problem, I am using "Generate Image Resource Files" option to create splash screens but some of the images are cropped from the sides. I've tried using following resolution images:

    For portrait splash screens: 1536px x 2048px

    For landscape splash screens: 2048px x 1536px

Square image sized 2732px x 2732px for both portrait and landscape.

But none of these options is giving perfect splash screen images for all the screen sizes.

Any suggestions to solve this problem?

    Thanks

    Shaz

Have a look at this section of the pre-release notes... http://aadocuments.s3.amazonaws.com/...easeNotes.Html

PhoneGap Builder: Added support for iOS Storyboards and Android 9 Patch images
Are you building with the older launch images... or the current Storyboard Launch Screens? What build of Alpha are you using. You mention the latest Patch, but that doesn't mean much.

        Re: Error Creating Splash Screen

I am using the Alpha Anywhere version 12.4.5.0 Build 4584, System Addins: 4961 and packaging the app using PhoneGapBuild version 6.5.0. I am not sure what you mean by storyboard launch screen and old launch images. I am just using the Alpha Phonegap Project Build option for generating image resource files (see attached).

          Re: Error Creating Splash Screen

Ok... that narrows things down. You're not using any of the newest stuff regarding iOS Storyboards or Android 9-patch.

You need to ensure that the image on your splash screen page is small enough not to be clipped. Can you post the square file you're using?

            Re: Error Creating Splash Screen

I need to read/try the new storyboard and 9-patch stuff you suggested. I've attached the Portrait, Landscape and square image files I tried to use.

Yup... way too much info... and all pushed much too close to the top, bottom, right, and left edges.

As a test... use the square image and remove everything except the centre graphic. Generate the images and see if any files show a cropped image. I believe the auto-create process now uses a centre-weight process... preserving what's in the middle and cropping to size from there.

The last time I created an App... I had the graphic artist create all the image files I needed. I didn't let the builder auto-create them. That's one way to go.

Leaving more space from edges have solved the problem. Thank you very much.
