Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Phone Gap Build And Mobile App

    When I do a phone gap build and scan bar code to install on my iphone using a QR Scanner, I have to copy the url and put it in a web browser before it will install. That is not a huge issue, however I an getting an error on first opening up that saids "Uncaught Type error: Cannot read property 'control type' of undefined. This is also displayed when I run the mobile app in a web browser. Any idea why this error is showing up and why I have to copy the url to a web browser to get the app to install on the iphone? Are the two related? Thanks.

    Build of Alpha? iOS or Android? If Android, can you post the QRCode. Can you post the UX?

      Thanks for sending those components. Did you just include the a5w pages... or are you actually using them in PhoneGap Build?
      Are you publishing your components?

      I'm not seeing an issue when scanning the Alpha or PhoneGap Build QRCode with a QRCode scanner app. No need to copy or do anything with the url.

      You can't really run your app in a web browser because you're using the VideoRecorderPlayer control. That control is PhoneGap Build only. A console error will show when running this in a browser.

      I'm not seeing any errors when the app starts... or after login.

      You shouldn't use session variables in Mobile apps. Set up a textbox control in your login ux and use that to store whatever you're using session variables for.

      You're calling sql_lookup to get an id from a table... then calling sql_lookup again to get more info from the same table. That's a waste. Just set up a connection and grab the record you need.

      Your UX components are very small and uncomplicated... no need to use an embedded UX process... unless you have another reason for doing so.

        Getting the following error pertaining to a list with detail view that is in a PhoneGap app with persisting data to the LocalStorage. I have attempted the build on cli-6.5.0 and cli-7.0.1 using both the new builder and the old builder (the 1 or 2 option below builder version). I have a second component that I run as a web app for older android devices that lag horribly on the downloadable phone gap app and in this version I don't receive the error (they both use all the same code except for the picture upload code with the phone gap one using the phone gap option). I thought these unhandled javascript errors were taken care of with the latest build (I'm actually on a pre-release passed the latest released build so unless it was introduced in again in a pre-release this seems like something wrong with the persisting).

          I have a textbox control named HoldLoginValue in my login UX and in the OnLogin Server side event I have the below code to set that value. I have the main mobile app UX embedded in my login UX. How do I get that HoldLoginValue to pass into the embedded main mobile app UX so I can filter on it?

          dim CurrentUserName as c
          dim CheckUserExist as c
          dim sql as c
          dim args as sql::arguments
          Dim cn as sql::connection
          dim sqlCommand as c
          flag = cn.open("::name::connection")
          CurrentUserName = a5ws_getcurrentuser()

          if CurrentUserName <> ""
          dim args as sql::Arguments
          args.set("USER_EMAIL",CurrentUserName)
          HoldLoginValue = sql_lookup("::name::connection", "table", "EMAIL = :USER_EMAIL","id",args)
          end if

          'To capture Last Login date and time
          '0: Initialize connections
          dim globalcn as sql::connection
          flag = globalcn.open("::name::connection")

          '1: Log entry into system
          dim sql as c
          dim args as sql::arguments
          args.add("CurrentUserName",a5ws_getcurrentuser()) 'Gets logged in user
          flag = globalcn.execute("UPDATE table SET LAST_LOGIN = getdate() where email = :CurrentUserName",args)
          flag = globalcn.Execute(sql, args)

          'x: Clean u
          globalcn.FreeResult()
          globalcn.Close()
          delete globalcn
