well okay then, you can write parsing the time javascript code. it will take some 10 - 15 lines but can be done.

while it is none of my business, it seems like this is data entry grid - an updatable grid it may be.
you are in version 12, a more mobile friendly version, how come you are not doing this in an ux/dialog? may be someday you will get around doing the schedule while on your way to Antoine for brunch.

edit2: i do not use jim's calendar nor do i know how the data is stored nor your backend.
if you are using mysql you can use trigger to insert the end time there without any involvement from alpha at all.

Yes, this is primarily for the office person at a desktop or laptop machine OR an iPad. This particular grid renders very well on an ipad, and even though as I said it does a LOT it is very fast too. So, as far as a mobile phone this isn't the best choice, however, a field tech usually doesn't do this type of office work, he just responds to it. I have a mobile technician agenda that is a UX and they can set the next appointment similarily - I just wrote error code there that basically says the end date cannot be before the start date, etc. I could have done similar here BUT would rather do it this way and of course switch that out for an error free forced choice.
I have to say I am having a BLAST developing it!

back end trigger will work more efficiently and with few lines. ( since the endtime is hidden the people won't know, anyway)

Yes I considered the trigger but I cannot have it run based on a crud operation alone, the user is ultimately making the decision most of the time on this table entry, it is only in this one component where I am trying to keep it as simple as possible from the users standpoint, select "click" - done. Whereas in another area of the application they can fine tune the time during and after the creation of the record, this area as I said previously is more of a single click operation. Thanks for your appreciation of my issue and comments, whether or not I use the advice provided, it is great advice and always makes me think about a different way of doing something.
