Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

jsChart pie chart not loading when on a tab control

I am working on a dashboard application, but to save on screen space I am trying to display a range of jsCharts inside tab controls, with the aim to ultimately timer auto rotate through them.

However, regardless of which I use, only the Javascript Chart on the first tab (the one visible when you open this up) displays, the rest are blank. (The legends are actually lists in this case so they always show)

I added {dialog.Object}.jsChartReDraw() followed by {dialog.Object}.jsChartSetRefreshData() to the onDynamicLoad event for each tab page and this works for the bar chart but NOT the two pie charts... (And yes publish data to client-side is checked under Data Series)

Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Showing the first tab content OK no matter which chart it is

Showing the bar chart OK when redrawing and refreshing data on dynamic load:

Not showing the pie chart on the second tab using redraw and refreshdata:

Can you post a sample? There's a lot going on here and a number of ways to get there.

Ok although somehow on the sample it won't show the charts inside the tab control at all in spite of the redraw an refreshdata commands, whereas in my own SQL based version the bar chart did load properly on IE.

What I did find was that in Chrome the colours just would not load in the barchart inside, as a workaround I had to copy and paste the whole JavaScript - replacing chart name and div - into the OnDynamicLoad event of each tab. To get the colours to load in Chrome I had to copy the same bar chart outside the tab control and make it 0px by 0px and the colours somehow show up OK on the visible chart.

To test it I put the UX into a page

        Hi Andrea,

I have not played with Javascript charts so wanted to have a look at your sample to see what they look like, I then had a little play with your layout. Wouldn't the attached also give you the desired affect?dashboard_sample_panelnav.a5wcmp

I can also confirm the same issue with colours in Chrome

Thanks, I'll have a play with that.

I keep coming back to the panel navigation - the reason I couldn't do it in the original component was because that already uses a panel layout and header and footer so wouldn't let me insert another one within, but I've just taken those out to save space anyway!

At least it's not just me - hiding a copy of the bar chart outside the tab control but making it 0px by 0px made the colour work.... somehow.

Panel Navigator seems to be working without the colour disappearing or the charts not rendering :)

Re: jsChart pie chart not loading when on a tab control

Your posted UX has a lot of errors in it, missing css, missing libraries, missing actions, invalid events. After cleaning it up, it looks like there is an Alpha issue with rendering a Bar Chart inside a Tab Control. A Pie Chart is ok... and I haven't tested other types.

However, the Javascript Chart Control is just a wrapper for RGraph... so you can just set up a Div inside the TabPane and call your own chart. This is running in Chrome.
