Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Report Calc Editor: GRP->GRAND not found error

Is anyone else experiencing this in v12? It only reports this error when I try to edit or add a calc to the list after the first time the list is created and prevents the list from being saved.

Using version 12.4.3.2 Build 4119 (Addins 4825) - which is not an active subscription else I would report it as a bug...

Is there an addin build that is newer than 4825 for the desktop?

Interesting note - I found a post that reported this bug back in 2006 with ver 7

I don't use reports these days so I haven't run into that. Are you trying to add or edit?

If edit you might try modifying the expression in the object's property dialog which doesn't require opening the list.

In that other post Tom mentioned it could be a corrupted layout. When I restored a prior version, the problem was gone. Adding or editing didn't make a difference since I was unable to save it. I could still drag a new calc onto the form using the genie, so the problem lay with the editor it seems.

What do you mean you 'don't use reports' anymore? Have you found a better option?

I export to Excel and use the Alpha OLE commands to format, insert totals, subtotals, formulas, etc. Recently developed a requested spreadsheet, updated daily, with 102 tabs. 101 tabs are store specific, the last is a summary of the others. I export (101 fields) the daily sales units for some items where special tracking is required to one Excel file (101 columns) and then use OLE commands to copy from each of the 101 columns to a corresponding tab in the master report spreadsheet. Takes about 15 seconds.

One notable benefit is that end users can "what if" the numbers to see what some result would have been if a different approach had been taken on pricing, if the cost could be lowered, etc.
