Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Tried all as suggested, just not working
    I get 10 repeats of each entry
    filter not working showing Name matches only but ignoring Status filter
    Thanks Tom but I think I have taken up enough of your valuable time will just rely on refresh by means of close & reopen form from custom toolbar.
    Thanks again

    I tried with a Name and a Status as a combination Query and it worked.(Suggest you build the Query from the Form/Browse and save it as a named one, then add it to a Button. Don't forget that the Conditions are separate in the Query Genie)

    Set changed to link on Name and Status, so you may want to try that.

    Adding and Deleted records on the Alpha side and these were replicated on the SQL side.
    Added records on the SQL side and did a Refresh via a Button with a Query attached. Data refreshed and only those items I wanted to see appeared in a Browse.
    It all works as intended, so possibly the issue is the Autoincrement.
    Also, don't for get to pick the top level items from the Set to go into the Form/Browse.

    Not at my pc
    but filter is on
    login kept in a global variable
    and status = “Outstanding”
    think I did link on auto increment so will change that when next at pc
    Thanks

    So the filter is the user logged in and a logical field for status?
    Probably not a good idea to use an auto increment field to join the tables.
    Try it with any more static field. It won't matter which as they are merely a requirement and not a processing necessity.

    Tom
    Its not working, it is erratic as sometimes after the refresh it will display all records, particularly if there has not been a change.
    What field was you set structure linked on?
    My filter is on 2 fields if this makes a difference
    Thanks
    Terry

    Created the Set linked back to the same table on the Autoincrement field, copied the form to the Set & it appears to be working.
    Will roll back out for some user testing.
    Thanks for all the help Tom

    My form is still based on the active link table rather than a set, not sure how yours is that works
    I created a Set by simply adding a link to the existing active link table, linking it to itself.

    ActiveTable
    -----ActiveTable1

    My Form filter is based on the value "Ted"
    https://www.screencast.com/t/ySxWW1U8ypEj

    At the start of the video, there is only one Ted in the Browse. I added another in the SQL table, then, the script button plays Refresh and Run Query.

    I haven't a clue why a set is needed, but it is.

    I have it working by adding the base filter as a Query and adding it to the processes under the

    topparent.ServerSideRefreshAll()
    topparent.resynch()
    run saved query
    - this needs to be constructed.

    Obviously the base query will need to be constructed appropriately.

    There is a filter for the user contained in a global variable and a filter to the value of a field called Status

    Well I got a little closer by adding the following script to a button on a Form. The Form only had a Browse in it and this refreshes at the Browse Level.
    It saves opening and closing.
    I tried OnTimer and other Form Events but it wouldn't work programatically

    'Refreshes the data in active-link tables that a Form, Browse, or Embedded Browse is based on. Causes the active-link table to show any new records that were added since the time the active-link table was originally opened.
    'Refresh the active-link table that the Layout is based on
    topparent.ServerSideRefreshAll()
    topparent.resynch()

    Run out of ideas, so have landed with a button on the custom toolbar that runs a global script to successfully close & reopen the form thereby getting the refresh required.
    Would still like the form to automatically refresh if there are any brainwaves out there.
    Ted - Thanks for your contributions
