Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Latest Version Alpha Anywhere for Desktop

    Hello

I have upgraded my developers' system to the latest version. - V12.4.6.2.1 Build 6699 System Addins 5464

On installing the update I now get on loading:

    AA1.jpg
I have run .bat file (I use Windows 10 Professional)

    It made no difference.

I reinstalled Alpha and still, it has made no message.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Alex

Have you tried uninstall / reinstall? That should solve the issue.
Create windows desktop applications using pure web components.

When running the bat file, right click on it and run as administrator. Might help.

        Hello Craig

I have tried this and it didn't work. It comes up with the following.

        AALV1.jpg
If you hit a key, nothing happens and the Window closes.

Looks like I will have to follow Roland's advice and do a full reinstallation.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.

        Kind regards

If you do a full installation, Alex, if you still have issues then you may need to clear the AS stuff in the Registry.
Not using a Registry Cleaner - manually AFTER A REGESTRY BACKUP.
(I use CCleaner personally as the option to save and restore the Reg is built in.)

This seems to me it might be a permissions issue. I take it you sign in to Windows as an administrator?

When you uninstall / reinstall, you might try right-clicking on the installer exe and selecting run as administrator.

Also, run the installer inside your user profile, from your download folder or your desktop. (It used to be you could run exe files from the root directory, but Win 10 is pretty well locked down on access to folders outside the users profile...)

I'm sure you'll get installed. I had a massive Win 10 update last night, and am wondering today what the impact will be as I go to open and use applications.

Alpha has in the past, left a line out of the bat file and a dll(or) did not get registered. Back up the batch file then compare what you have with and older version you may still have. I do not have your build, so I cannot send you a copy of the bat

For some reason, microSoft has muddied the waters on running tasks as administrator.
For most people (including myself) it would make sense that being logged in as Administrator or an account
with administrator would qualify. This IS NOT the case for many situation.
microsoft has given us the extra step of having to right-click on cmd.exe or the .bat file, then choosing Run as Administrator
to actually run the task as Administrator.

Has the option of setting the Run as Admin and as a legacy version disappeared?
If you right click an .exe file, select properties, you should be able to set these as a recurring feature.

                    Thanks Ted for your input.
I use a product called Revo Uninstaller Pro.
                    After that I use Ccleaner.
                    The combination work well together.

                    Kind regards

                      Out of interest.

Uninstalled using Revo, installed the latest version, and everything worked OK.

                      Thanks to everyone who inputted.

                      Much appreciated.
