Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

My understanding is the TS/RDS does not need high speeds as it is just sending keystrokes / mouse to the rds.
I have set up with shadow as the data / master adb is on a different server plus shadows have always worked better for me, because the users are not sharing the forms scripts etc.
I think perhaps you have a different type of TS, perhaps you could explain e,g, does some sort of processing happen on the pc you connect with.
I will try to get the master adb on the rd and use that rather than a shadow, to see if that helps
    Thanks for your input.

I will try putting the the master adb on the TS/rds & let you know how this goes.

        Hi Martin,
Are you really recommending 10 GB memory per user? Really? That seems like a huge amount of memory.

CPU & memory use have been monitored during the tests, so we got to using a server size where less than 50% use for ALL users to make sure these were not the issue.
Tried putting the master db on the TS/RDS & using this directly (i.e. not shadowed) but this made no difference.
          Must be some other issue.

Terry, you mentioned in a different post about using SQL
Is the Db SQL or DBF on this server?

DBF not sql, but master adb on same server being used as TS/rds still did not resolve the issues

Mike, would be best to call and ask Microsoft directly - I know one client did and ordered their server with 183 gig ram. Their may be a forum, not sure.

Terry, I take it the version of Alpha you are running is V12 / AA?

Is it possible to run a version using V11? The difference in size and processing between the 2 versions may be an issue.
Unless you have started using some esoteric stuff in V12, V11 should work ok.

The other alternative to test out RDS is to ignore it and load the app on a specific machine on your intranet and try accessing it with multiple users.
It's outside of RDS but if it works better, then it's an RDS or Server issue. If not, then an Alpha issue.

Seems like it's unusable at present anyway, so just posing suggestions.

V12 / AA 7 all working fine on our normal in office server / shadowed clients set up & has been developed over 25 years - i am trying to move this to a cloud solution.
The TS/RDS setup is as follows:-
Single install of Alpha Runtime on server 2019 which is accessed via a number of users using Microsoft Remote Desktop Server Role.
I am asking Selwyn, but wonder if AA Runtime requires an individual install for each user.
