Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Then I'm sorry Ken, it makes no sense.
Looked like a serious video of a new way to do stuff!
        I should have known better.

              Nice piece of work.
Would you like a copy of my Data Dictionery and Table Builder to incorporate?

                Ken:

I never would have guessed that could be achieved in AA. Congrats on breaking new ground.

That said, may I ask your motivation? In other words, are you creating dynamic data charts for data entry as in the user can populate fields dragged into the flow chart, or something?

The reason I ask is flow chart software is readily available, like in Office Word for example.

It must have taken some serious time to put this together, so I assume it has a larger purpose than just the challenge?

                Again, very interesting...

I agree, Very interesting. I'd like to hear more on how you did this.

Ken is very talented. I do believe he is calling a 3rd party utility and has integrated it with Alpha. Just a wild guess.

I agree with Peter. The easiest way to use 3rd parties is with xdialog.

Here is used Alphas Chrome control. It is basically a string bind to a pointer variable.
In my opinion Chrome control integration to Xdialog is a piece of art by Selwyn.

But Chrome control is not in practice same as Chrome browser. Something works something not.
One of great features is that user can not debug application at all. The source code is totally in save and so is also the DOM. Hidden field is hidden field.

In my example I use XMLHttpRequest object to fire xdialog events, DOM to pass data and because file streaming does not work (at least I can not get it working) the solution was to give up with it and instead save file (picture) on the fly to the database.

Here is exactly same Xdialog (stretch command added) running in real web browser powered by Alpha Runtime and TSPlus.

Ken, while I applaud you use of 3rd party stuff, I have to say I am confused.
There is a product which creates databases from designs.
It is called Virtual Paradigm. Expensive.

The Community version is free and quite comprehensive using UML as a starting point. Just non creation.

What we need is voice control to develop Tables. ( I am trying still) and all the other bits and pieces.

                          PS .
                          2 pints down.
