I have been using AA for many years. Not a guru, but not a novice. Earlier this week I was forced to move from a Win 7 machine and an older version of AA to a Win 10 laptop with the latest version of AA and latest MS SQL ODBC driver.
One of the things I do with AA is I have a MS SQL server 2017 as a backend and I write queries and then paste them into the passive table source editor to create local copies of the SQL data that I then use for "something".
I use Native syntax and in the past have written some very interesting queries where I grouped data then used an expression like sum( when year =2020 then sales else 0 end) as sales_2020 and it worked like a champ. After upgrading to Win 10 and new release I can refresh an existing passive link table with this in the SQL statement, I can preview it in the data source editor with the exact result I would expect but when I try to save it I get an error saying "incorrect syntax near keyword blah, blah blah". I can copy and paste the exact same query in any query window in any program including AA and it works. I wrote a Xbasic script with the exact same query and copy the results to a dbf and it works.
I'm stumped and frustrated. Is there a setting that controls this? is it a bug? I would think this would easily duplicated using any SQL table with some type of similar data.
This is why I held on to Win 7 and an old version of AA for as long as I did because it worked.
Thanks in advance!!
