Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Remove Row selector on embedded (saved) browse

I cannot seem to Remove Row selector on embedded (saved) browse either in the properties of the saved Browse or in the properties in the embedded browse.
Has anyone worked out this issue?

You will need to change the colour scheme if I understand what you mean.
Else, upload an image showing what you need to change and what you would like it to be.

      Row Selector.PNG
This is the row selector that I want to removed. It is a saved browse that is embedded in the form.

The column you want to delete is not bound to the browse or form, so the only thing I can think of is to mess with the XML Definition.

Never tried this so maybe someone else has and can chip in.

Or, you could insert a Grid Component into your Form, problem is instead of a Row selector "blob" you get an arrow.
Why do you want to remove the selector?

Or, you could embed a Preview Report Super Control showing just data as you are not interested in the row selector, and have a click through on the data to open a specific record or form.

Curiosity strikes again... What does this accomplish for your browse?

On an embedded browse (not a saved browse) it is a simple property.

It is just for aesthetics I wanted to remove it.
The same browse is used on over 20 forms so I wanted to use the saved version rather than an embedded version. If you use an embedded version you can remove the row selector, but you cannot copy the browse to each form as this fails for some reason.

I have to be honest, I never thought about taking the Row Selector out.
Nice to see different approaches to data presentation.

If you have onrowdoubleclick events, if the browse is read only, you can double click anywhere. However, if it is not read only a user can get into trouble (accidentally change a value) by douldclicking in a field. However, if it not readonly, leaving and clicking in/using the row selector, they will not.

This example is an embedded browse, not a saved browse that is embeded

I don't believe that you can remove a Row Selector in a saved browse.
At least I can't, even when creating a new Stylesheet with the RS disabled.
The SS works in a form with an embedded browse, but not a saved one, so maybe that's the way it has to be.

                            Unless someone knows different!

This is where I got to.
I have since created the same embedded browse on the 20 or so forms it was required on, manually as they could not be copied & pasted from one form to another.
                              Thanks for investigating though.
