Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    time entry seconds

    Hello All,
This has to be simple, but maybe not. I am building a logbook that has various date and time specific entries. Basically an alarm needs to be logged and the alarm specifies the date and time to the second of occurrence and type of alarm.
If I use the field type time it has calendar and clock which is in theory good to log this alarm. The clock allows 5 minute quick select intervals and a manual entry, however it does not allow entry of seconds. The logbook requires a time entry to the second, so is there a way to do this nicely. User will select the date from calendar and enter a exact time of occurrence. I never did any time entries before this application came up and using the prebuilt time data type does not seem to allow changes in fields for seconds. My only other choice is just enter the date and time by typing in everything which I guess is okay too, just looking for fancier way to do it.

Thank you all in advance for any insight on this little project.

YES, exactly what I need it to have! I am assuming time can be typed in boxes.

Hows about going Alpha transform and have a one click "NOW!" button on a device?

Okay, I am lost as none of your image resembles my V12 or I have something not set. It is a desktop application at the moment. I feel lost on that image. I'm still in the old world.

Ted, It needs to be in the past as it is being logged at a later time and date, so using now would not work in my case.

            Thanks!!

Sorry I didn't initially respond with words.
The UX I displayed displays the current time, and gives the user
the ability to make adjustments. If adjustments are not needed, I would
just have them click a button that enters the date/time/seconds automatically.
To answer your question, the user can type the values into the boxes , or they
can choose from the helper as shown in the image below (Don't let the timetest
control confuse, it's from quick prove-it type testing).

Okay, then what code you have would be the solution then. I just went and changed format to include seconds but it just does not work as it has am pm and this is 24:00 format. Is this something that you can share the code to do this? I just sat down after time away and I am discovering what I have forgotten which is too much. Thank you for your replies to this post!

I did what you did in the web mobile side of software which I have never used before and I am trying to be just a desktop application, so I saved the UX component. I am assuming it cannot be used in the desktop only world?
Thanks again for your assistance. I did learn something new doing that!

Oh crud...I'm sorry. I even found the post in desktop and it still didn't register with me.
let me take a look at a regular desktop form and see what I come up .
In the mean time, you can use a UX in a desktop app even without the app server.

wow!!!! Amazing how they have every option except the one you really want.
this might seem counter-productive, but would 2 controls work (one for date, one for time) ?

You need to get the time into a field of its own or work out the extraction of the time from your date/time field. Once you've done that, add a calculated field to your form where the formula is
                            toseconds(time field)
which will convert any time into seconds past midnight.

I could do that as it was setup originally for two separate fields and probably easier to drill down to a specific date if needed. I think I will just go with original method of type in date and time in two separate fields. Just thought it might look fancier with graphical interface.

Side note, can you save your timetest UX component as custom and post it. I didn't get the OK button you have also I imported it into desktop with action scripting, but I get a java script error as it loads.

We just had power failure for past hour, so I didn't get any further playing around.

                              Thanks!
