entering data in web browser

I have been able to use shell.explorer.2 to open web pages and enter data, press buttons, etc. in those pages, but shell.explorer.2 is IE7 and now a web site that I need
to go to has features not supported by shell.explorer.2. So I'm trying to use the built-in chrome helper. Here is the code:

Now, if I just have the single line, cp.setValue("Username","myUserName")
then the web page displays and the Username field is filled in. Same if
if I just want to fill in the Password field. But the code above doesn't do anything.
What I need to do is fill in both input fields, press a submit button, and gaily
go on to subsequent pages and keep navigating programmatically. I'm sure
I'm missing something about the chrome helper and its events. Any help
appreciated.

Well, I made some progress. I needed to use the OnReady event to initialize an Xbasic event, as in the following:

And the good news is that this logs me in and takes me to the next page. On the next page, I can do entries in text boxes, but none of the "submit" buttons on the next page work
at all. It's not a function of my automatic login code; if I just do

then I open the login form, can fill in the username and password by keying, use the mouse to submit, then I am
taken to the next page of the web site. There I can do some text entries but none of the buttons will work at all.
Any ideas? Anyone using the Chrome helper to log onto web sites and enter information from Alpha?

Part 3 of Chrome helper lament: I tested the Chrome helper on Gmail and got a similar problem:

I can put in my Gmail address, then click on "Next", and the Chrome helper freezes up, doesn't advance to the next page to ask for a password.

Partial success! I downloaded the latest version of the Community Edition and the freezing up issue has disappeared, Now to see if I can get the rest of the script to work...
