Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Restoring form toolbar back to system toolbar with xbasic

The object explorer shows the value for the toolbar when the system toolbar is active as toolbar="".
Having a form button with the OnPush code >> parentform. toolbar="<none>"
    the toolbar is removed.

How does one get the toolbar back using xbasic code?

You may have to create your own toolbar, Mike and call it.
A close and open restores the toolbar, but you need a menu item to carry out the process, I've found.
Alternatively, add back the options you disabled using the <none> method.

      Hi Ted,
Thanks for confirming what I ended up discovering.
Yes, I agree with you, so I created one to assign. It really quite a lot of work to duplicate the system toolbar. Thankfully I didn't need all the components.

        Ted,
I'm going to piggyback on this thread... I should know this but seems I don't. What is the name for the tabs at the bottom of an A5 screen and how does one make them so they do not show?

In the Database settings, where you choose your opening Form.
Don't show the windows, and the Control Panel.

Might be talking bull dust. Late here. Will confirm tomorrow

This is one easy way Mike.

Workspace Properties, hide CP and/or Windows Bar. Check Boxes

Hiding the bar also hides the CP, but you can resurrect that with controlpanel.show()
It doesn't show the Widows Bar automatically.

If you hide it in Workspace Properties, you need to run A5_WINDOWBAR_SHOW() if you decide you want to display it and it stays until you turn it off, or restart the program.

I usually put these commands in an invisible Hot Spot somewhere on the form, often on top of a Logo, so when clicked, one or both are displayed.

              Hi Ted,
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there was a function A5_WINDOWBAR_HIDE(). Thats what I want/need.

                A5_CLOSE_ALL_WINDOWS()
                All except the CP.

Oops. Probably now what you want, but it will do the job..

Can you explain why you want the windows bar to be closed?

                  Hi Ted,
During development, I want everything to be open and available. When preparing the app for distribution, I want the app locked down, no menus, no toolbars (although now I have a dev toolbar and a distribution toolbar that worked out well) . I make the conversions with a function and make all the changes possible with code.

Have a look at the attached, Mike.
The initial form has no CP or Window bar.
There is a Hot Spot which displays them. You can usually hide that from the users and add a Password as added protection.
If you want to put the process in a function you will need to work it out, but please look at the settings in the Form Properties and Database Properties as some features are turned off deliberately.

                    No Menus.zip

                      Hi Ted,
Yup, know hotspots well. I believe you most likely also intended to add the "my system toolbar" as part of the hotspot OnPush event, but did not. I copied over a couple of things from an app I am now working on into your example. Take a look.

I had thought of putting the additional toolbar in Mike, but it seemed a bit pointless as the CP gives all that you need anyway. Just testing options.
The Autoexec is a nice idea, as is the password bit.
