Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Not authorised issue on Runtime

Yesterday we started receiving this on our runtime pc's on opening the program.

"you are not authorized to use this version of AA. The current product (AA Developer edition version 12.0, 2 processors) is not supported for this license
Supported products AA Runtime edition v 12.0-1 processor"

Our help indicates we are running Runtime Plus v12.2- build 1856.
Our subscription expired a year ago.

So why is this happening all of a sudden?

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

Did you upgrade the runtime to a build later than that available at the time your license expired?
    There can be only one.

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

Stan, based on the release dates

      Build 1856_4237 (DEC-18-2013)
      Full version update
      Runtime update
      Application Server update

I should be good okay to run 2689 which I am for the full version. Perhaps I will try an update and see what happens

      Build 2689_4440 (FEB-04-2015)
      Full version update
      Runtime update
      Application Server update

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

Larry, I have confirmed that there is a bug in build 1856 that causes the Runtime to report itself as the developer edition, and that leads to the reported license incompatibility. Build 2089, which was the next official release after 1856, does not have this bug.

You may download past releases of Alpha anywhere from Based on the expiration date of your subscription, you are entitled to use up to build 2689.

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

Getting the same error on build 3583. Downloading 3550 to see if it's OK. Not happy.

              OK, let's try 3522 - another 200+Mb download

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

That was a miserable failure - trying 2999_4519. Would help if Alpha actually supplied links for the full version download for 'old' versions.

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

No luck there - let's try 2446 - I've done a full install of that in the past no problem.

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

OK - managed to install 2446 full runtime which got me a working application. Now installing latest patch over the top to see if it works - well that was a miserable failure. Backing out to 2446. Now looking very odd as I have 2999 running on a customer's machine.

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

For the record, in my case, 2446-4365 works, but with this issue.

If you use a shortcut to open the runtime to an app, everything is fine.

If you open the runtime, then use 'File' to open an app, everything is fine.

If you open the runtime, then click on the 'Recent Workspaces' button, you get the error about a license issue.

Hope this sheds light on this for others...

Re: Not authorised issue on Runtime

This appears to be fixed in 3596-4665 although I can't see anything in the release notes.
