Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607
Microsoft has rolled out a feature update to Windows 10, version 1607 (aka Anniversary Update) which has caused a problem with the report function. I have a hybrid application with some Alpha5 users, on the in house lan using the desktop version and remote users using a web app. The database is on a windows server and the lan users are running windows 7 and the runtime version of Alpha. Since windows 10 is not involved for them, there is no problem. Remote users have varied operating systems and browsers and I have tested windows 10 platforms after the upgrade to version 1607 on their machines and can happily report there is no problem for those users either. But when I installed the windows update on my development machine the alpha report function broke. In the desktop mode a pdf report can show on the screen but can not be saved to the local drive. The error message simply names the layout. Using the development application server and either chrome or MS edge, requesting a pdf report fails. It seems that the pdf can not be saved prior to downloading to the user. I suspect that the problem come about when the report generator is running under windows 10 after the feature update to Windows 10, version 1607. I have rolled back my windows 10 to version 1511 on my development machine and the problem resolved. I have not tested the runtime module on a windows 10 platform after the update but I fear that will show the problem. Since my in house users are all on windows 7, I will keep them as such.
Has anyone else found this problem or other problems with the feature update to Windows 10, version 1607?
