Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        Been fiddling with ideas. All of the following runs in V12.

        This is from the IW using Alpha Methods.
        https://www.alphasoftware.com/docume...rn=Method+List
        Take care not to mix up the Web and DT procedures.
        You can build a process based on a table to manage users and groups, however I believe that the dialog option shown below should work for most users. Stick it in a Button.

        ? a5_get_users() ' Shows a list of current users
        = bill
        ted1

        ? a5_get_groups() ' List of current groups
        = "managers"

        a5_add_new_user("password","dewayne","dewayne","managers") ' Adds a new user

        ? a5_get_users() 'Shows new user added
        = bill
        dewayne
        ted1

        A5_USER_GROUPS_DIALOG() ' This is the easiest way to handel this, so I think that the users ought to be able to cope with it.
        ?a5_add_new_group("password", "Help Section") 'Add a new Group
        = .T.

        ? a5_get_groups() 'Show added group
        = Help Section
        managers

        ? a5_delete_user("password", "dewayne") 'Delete user
        = .T.

        ? a5_get_users() 'Show user gone
        = bill
        ted1

        ? a5_delete_group("mpassword", "Maintenance") 'How to delete a group.

          I will try to bounce back to what we are trying to do with our current permission setup for a user running the RUNTIME.
          1.adding users/groups or deleting them is working 100%
          2.setting the permissions both forms & dbfs is working 100%

          the item that we are struggling with is to SHOW the current permissions on each group for the various forms or dbf. Best if I show the pics from earlier in my thread.

            A5_GROUP_HAS_PERMISSION Function

            A5_HAS_PERMISSION Function
            You may need to cycle through the Groups or Users.

              A5_GROUP_HAS_PERMISSION*
              I'm going to leave you with this option Dewayne.
              Suggest you use a List to determine the groups to cycle round and get the settings.
