Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Sending a report via email creates and attaches only page 1 of a report

When running a report that yields more that 1 page, upon SENDING the report as an email attachment, the Alpha PDF tool, or any format you choose when attaching the report, creates only the first page. It does not matter what format you choose: Word, Excel, PDF, Rich Format, or text. I can not find any Alpha setting that can make this a multipage attachment. Has anyone seen this issue?

    See from Help
The UI_GET_FILES_MULTIPLE() function prompts for filenames. Allows user to select multiple filenames.
This Function will get the many files.

Maybe I need to be more specific. I am using Alpha Anywhere v12.3 build 2999. I will run a report that populates 5 pages. If I print the report, I get 5 pages printed. If I choose to use FILE | SEND from the top menu, and choose any option from the popup window (ie PDF), the PDF file will be created by Alpha and attached to a blank email. If you open the attachment, it will have only 1 page. This problem has nothing to do with selecting multiple files.

        John,

I think you have the page_1 to page_5 as single page then you need to combine those pages into one pdf_page_Single.

Either using PDF or A5's PDF command. You have to make the 5 pages into one page attachment.

He has said he has a single report. That single report may have any number of pages depending on the number of records selected.

His issue is that when that single report is sent as any of the various file types only the first page is generated/created in the single output file.
          There can be only one.

            Stan, That's right.
If I wanted to generate the report and use a PDF writer outside of Alpha (like doPDF etc) I could, then save that newly generated PDF to a folder. Then start a new email and attach the new report. But that's silly, because the 'send' feature is built into Alpha as well as the pdf generator. Staying in Alpha, I could do everything in a couple of clicks. Except it looks like the generator does not work properly.

I just tried it in v4.3.2 4119-4825 and it works fine. Perhaps you have found a bug in that version.

Robin - Thanks for trying to duplicate the problem. Are you actually using Version 4? Is that an early windows version?

No, since this is the forum for ver 12, that would be v12.4.3.2 to be more precise...

I guess I need to eliminate my machine, and try this on another PC in the this office.

Nice to report all is working. I am going to suspect the last windows update. Had a new update over the weekend. Alpha send is now producing all of the pages for the selected report. Thanks for all your support, folks.
