Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Google map not displaying after publish

I have built a google map that shows the locations of my service technicians in the field. In the working preview it works great but when I publish to my test site, hosted by Zebrahost, the map will not display.

I looked into the project properties and saw that there is a place for a Maps API. I cannot find the text file that was referenced in the notes, so I went to Google and got my own maps API Key and placed it in the properties. Still not displaying. So I then put the API Key in the map settings for the UX directly. It will still not display.

Any advice on where I should go next. This is a very key feature of my overall Alpha app and my staff is looking forward to using it.

    All help appreciated.

is your site https? Google requires a secure site - other than that have a look at the developers tool in chrome when you go to your site - it will usually say why it isn't loading...

It is. I went to chrome and it told me that is was blocking non secure content. I told it to allow and the map populated.

I did get Zebra to put a security certificate on the site, I think something is not quite right. I will speak with them.

Thanks - my staff can at least see the map now.

Re: Google map not displaying after publish

I use the google map api on a number of sites without ssl with no issue on any browser, so do not understand chrome issue.
Hate it when we are being co-ersed into something that may not be needed on some sites

Re: Google map not displaying after publish

Dave it isn't AS if that's what you meant - Google requires it - as far as I know but if you research it there are cases where it is NOT required. As far as I can tell it is always required when you use the geolocation API (googles) to locate the USER. I have also read that others use it without SSL, however as I said Google has stated for security purposes that they will be forcing this on more and more website developers as often as they can. Now as far as coercion I gotta give them credit in that they still allow it if YOU allow it - this goes double for phone applications! Apple is REALLY coercive in their process!

Photohog - be sure that Use SSL is checked in the map properties as well in the UX. You'll figure it out, it works well and many people use it daily!

Thanks Charles, turning on the SSL fixed it. My first map is working great! Here's a peak if you're interested2017-06-14_2311.png
