Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Patch 3535 wont take on win7??

    Hi all
Im just a bit baffled at getting the latest and greatest
onto my machine. Has anyone else had any difficulties getting the patch to register?

Ive had this problem for all patches since 2731-3522.
ie according to the about box Im still working on this build.
Thanks in advance for any insite on this.
    James

I purchased Alpha a couple of months ago
and my about box tells me I have build
    2731-3522
When I check for a new version it confirms this and tells me to download the latest patch to go to 3535.
I do this and run it.
None of the version numbers change???

ie Ive still got 3522. And its still telling me to update.

Can anyone confirm the patch download has actually updated?
Has anyone downloaded this latest patch and what was its file size please and maybe create date? Or is there any other way I can confirm its the correct patch, a number somewhere in the file

Or maybe I have a bug in Win7 that wont let the update register?
Really looking forward to these new changes

Is it possible my version number is not updating? Can any body tell me a feature in 3535 that I can easily look for and see to confirm what version Im running?

    Thanks for any feedback
    James

Re: Patch 3535 wont take on win7??

If the Version numbers aren't changing, the patch is not being applied. Make sure ALL instances of A5 are not running, check in the task manager. Otherwise reboot, do not run A5 and load the patch. I have updated 4 win 7 systems, no problems. The only reason I have ever seen preventing a patch from being applied was A5 was running and I did not realize it.

I concur with Bill. I have had no problems updating on win 7 except for earlier today when I forgot to shut down A5 first! After a reboot discovered that my Mysql alphadao connections were broken!

I reinstalled the previous patch (making sure A5 was not running!) checked everything was working and then ran the new patch again. This time it worked perfectly avoiding the need for me to lie down in a darkened room!

Perhaps try running one of the previous patches first like I did?

XP works fine. As I have a second machine with a seperate license, Ive updated both, but...
Still no go with win7. Ive restarted clean so a5 is not loaded
          run the patch
          restarted again
          and ... No Change???
