Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to get out of a Tabbed UI?

    I have three tabbed UI grids. I want to be able to switch from one to another. How do I make the selected tabbed ui-page open "_top" in stead of within the calling tabbed ui?

      I would like to know this, AND how to stop it from taking over the window. I need it to work with other a5w pages versus being it's own application.

        This is the way I have implemented this:-

        First create a new button in your main TabbedUI. Then in the Javascript onclick event add code similar to the following:-

        (note that this a function call, as I want more complex code to determine if we are running on our development or live server)

        openmenu_errorlog();

        The code for the function is as below, defined in the TAbbedUI Properties - Javascript Function Declarations. You do not need to use a function and could put the code directly into the Javascript onclick event if you wished.

        function openmenu_errorlog()
        {
        var HOSTN = window.location.host;
        if (HOSTN == "nexusdev:8081")
        {
        window.open('http://nexusdev:8081/healthcare/Messages/Error_log.a5w','','resizable=1,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no');
        }else{
        window.open('http://nexus:8081/Error_log.a5w','','resizable=1,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no');
        };
        }

        The function uses the Javasript window,open command to open a standard a5w page which was generated by another TabbedUI component.

        I hope this helps.

        Regards

          Re: How to get out of a Tabbed UI?

          Thanks Dave,

          It works fine. The only thing is that is open a new window. And I don't want that.

          This morning I thought of something else. It is less sophisticated, but it works also.

          Let's say that in the current Tabbed-UI I have a button that should open the page second_frame.a5w outside the current one.
          The button does not open the page second_frame.a5w, but second_frame_top.a5w.

          In the header of this page second_frame_top.a5w I put this code:
          Code:
          <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
          <!--
          if(window.top!=window.self){
          window.top.location = 'second_frame_top.a5w';
          }
          <!--
          window.location="second_frame.a5w";
          //-->
          </script>
          The following then happens when I press the button in de first frame:
          1. second_frame_top.a5w opens.
          2. It pulls itself out of the first frame.
          3. It redirects to the second frame

          For me that works. Allthough it probably isn't the fastest way, I understand what's happening ;-)
