Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    That worked. Thanks. I'm posting the code for others who might have this issue

    in the Client side events
    afterGridsubmit
    Action Javascript
    Ajaxcallback

    here is the xbasic function

    Code:
    function newcount as c (e as p)

    dim id as c
    id = "trans_not_scheduled"
    dim html as C
    html="Transport Not Scheduled<br>"
    html=html+str(tablecount("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\used_inventory","Recon_Status='1) Transport Not Scheduled'.AND. left(Status,1)<>'9'"))
    dim js as c
    js = "$('" + id + "').innerHTML = '"+js_escape(html)+"';"

    newcount=js

    end function

    okay here is one way to do
    make the button label as <span id ="transport">Transport</span>
    then in your grid add code after grid execute or grid initialize do an ajaxcallback to calculate the number and send a javascript code to change that.
    and again whenever you run an ajaxcallback update that number.
    if you need more assistance you need to post a video or something. people will help you.

    edit: there is no render complete on grids only in dialogs
    please see the change to grid initialize or grid execute

    I was thinking that if I inserted the code again it would cause it to refresh. But with the multiple new lines and " and ' I wasn't sure how to build a javascript string that would match.

    if you leave that in and when the grid functions is there a place to get the count? then you can reach out to change the label then.

    Here is the code I use in the button to label it and pull the count.

    Code:
    Transport Not Scheduled
    <br><%a5
    dim tc as C
    tc=str(tablecount("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\used_inventory","Recon_Status='1) Transport Not Scheduled'.AND. left(Status,1)<>'9'"))
    ?tc %>
    How do I turn that into a javascript string?

    Re: Tabbed UI Buttons - Refresh

    i do not know how you set the count on the button, but the text on the button can be reached from the component contained in the tabbedui.
    for the button text give the name as follows
    <span id="something">name_you_want_to_give</span>
    and in the component you add javascript code where and when you want to change the text
    document.getelementById("the_name_you_gave_in_span").innerHTML="something new to display";

    it is possible and probably best to wrap this in an if end if code bloc as
    var pp = document.getElementById("the_name");
    if (pp) {
    pp.innerHTML="something";
    }
    this might avoid error popping up when the span id is naked.

    Re: Tabbed UI Buttons - Refresh

    Has anyone found a solution to this yet. I have several button that open grids, in the button text I have a count of item in that grid. Based on what happens when the grid is open the count changes. But the count on the button always stays with the count when the Tabbed UI was opened and does not refresh unless you refresh the entire page.

    I hope you get an answer to this because turning on buttons has been killing me. Remember that you can always use css to declare something visible or hidden.

    Tabbed UI Buttons - Refresh

    Does anyone know how to refresh a tabbed UI so that if a button is based on a session variable the button action will behave accordingly? Is there another solution besides server variables to turn on or off a button?

    Thanks,
