Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Hi Gary,

You will need a third party company to perform that task for you. Do a search in this forum on SMS.

            Hi Eric,

That looks like a solution for scanning. Do you also use that to send text messages to cell phones and faxes to wherever??

            Thanks!

                Save some money PRINT_TO_FAX()

use Windows Fax services. You can use a 4 port modem for 4 fax lines. The assumption here is that you are hosting the WAS onsite.

Re: How to fax, send text messages ....

i can help you regarding text message and i am working on fax at the moment ( for my own sake)

for text message: if you can send email then you can send text message. at the end of this message i will include the listing file.
the sms address is your phone_number@the_carrier_text_message.com
say your phone number is 1234567890 and the carrier is verizon wireless then the email address to send email that will be delivered as text message is
[email protected] for verizon wireless. just for the heck of it send from your email to your_phone_number@your_carrier_sms.com
check my file below and replace whatever you need to.
and the text message will come.
then all you have to do is write an ajax call back.
if you want, you can pm me your phone_number and the carrier. i will send you a text.
you can add this sms_address as a field just like an email address and extract the value with the e._newDataSubmitted object.

here is the list of the carriers and their sms_suffix

if particular carrier is not listed you can search their site.

                        hope this helps,
would you let me know by posting back or pm.

ps: none of my computers have fax modem, so faxing for now is off.

Thank you for that follow-up. I had already created the scripts to do this, but my list of carriers was only 5. Thank you for the others.

And I can't wait to see your solution for the faxing

                            hello

i have tested by selecting the fax printer for destination in two different locations and it works well so for me that is enough for now.
if this is not good or you want something else take a look at report.fax() method
                            http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/REPORT.FAX+Method
                            this you may find useful.
i am planning to work on this and see if this is any better suited for me than selecting the fax printer.
                            let me know.
if i succeed i will post back.
