Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Problem Printing PDF reports after new installation of V11

I remember having this problem again when V10 came about and installed. at that point we had some special instruction from Alpha people how to deal with the problem... After the very first problem we actually forgot about this problem...

Now after installing V11 (web application server) seems that is giving as the same problem again
the actual message is as follows:

"Report did not print. Error reported was:
'Alpha Five Printer' (for creating PDF, RTF and HTML output) is not installed. Re-install Alpha Five Application Server"

I did tried to re-install Alpha Five Application server and actually did this twice without and after deleting "AlphaFivePrinterV4".

    Any ideas??
Anybody else having the same problem??
    how to solve this problem?

    Thank you,
    Marios

Go to the a5v11 folder and look for the AmyuniV4 folder under that. Then run the InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe file.

After trying all of these ideas this is the closest I can get to viewing any reports. No error reported, just won't show the report. Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Report did not print. Error reported was:

We are in same situation, after a reboot printer system work for a while, than
                  fail with this error:

Report did not print. Error reported was:
'Alpha Five Printer' (for creating PDF, RTF and HTML output) is not installed. Re-install Alpha Five Application Serv

Nothing seem to solve, already reinstalled and so on.
We do not know how to go on.

If you use SQL backend for your reports, maybe you should try to re-publish database library (check option "Publish Database Library" in publish Dialog box). I would also backup whole current "A5Webroot" folder and publish into brand new empty folder, just to check if some file mix-up could be a problem.

Re: Problem Printing PDF reports after new installation of V11

For people having problems with the Amyuni PDF Printer driver that is bundled with Alpha Five, we have just released a new option in V11 to use the Microsoft XPS printer driver instead of the Amyuni PDF Printer. If you choose this option, then the resulting XPS file will be converted to PDF automatically before being sent to the browsers.

More details about this new feature are in the V11 Release Notes.

                          Selwyn,

Does this mean you can uninstall the Amyuni printer/driver? Or does the XPS_to_PDF() function still rely on it ?

Re: Problem Printing PDF reports after new installation of V11

The Microsoft XPS Printer does not rely on the Amyuni printer driver. It would be irrelevant if you deleted the 'AlphaFivePrinterV4' or not.

Howerver, the conversion of the XPS file to PDF does rely on the Amyuni ActiveX control which Alpha Five installs. Deleting the AlphaFivePrinterV4 does not uninstall the Amyuni Activex control. Howerver if you uninstalled the Amyuni activex, then the conversion of the xps to pdf would fail. I

Having said all of the above, there is no need to remove the AlphaFivePrinterV4, nor is there in benefit in doing so.

Is there anything gained by using the XPS driver over the Amyuni printer driver?
