Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    a5wui not found

After following the AmyUni problem thread and doing everything listed and double checked there to install the MS XPS, NOW I get this response:

"Report did not print. Error reported was:
    Not found a5wui not found."

    What is this reference to?

I republished the entire site also!

    Re: a5wui not found

I think you get that error message when the server is asked to open a UI popup type message that is only meant for the desktop. In your case, I'd look at the code that's used for printing the report and make sure it is not trying to popup the print preview or something along those lines.

I am having the same problem as well!!

"Report did not print. Error reported was:
        Not found a5wui not found."

I tried to use the new printing feature (XPS --> PDF) from Alpha5 - and this is the message I am getting.
I did made some changes to the grids so that when publish - to be sure that the files will publish but no lack.

I think that Alpha should come with a strong solution on this printing problem...

Same problem on IE, FFox and Chrome!
Yes, I need to get reports and billing out and this is a real problem.
The only good news I have to report is that the Excel export now works, but I had to recreate (as in rebuild) the pages the button was on. Only 23 more to go!

The release notes mention that the

'Automatically open XPS document using the XPS viewer'

property on the XPS printer must be unchecked.

              Have you done that?

I double looked at that and it is in fact UN-checked.
And it still wont work in IE!

Unfortunately my group has invoices to send, so this is getting painful.

                      Re: a5wui not found

I don't think that we have to consider which browser users are using!!!

the printer should work on any browser the users like to use!!

So this is a problem that Apha5 should consider as a serious problem and should take measures to solve it the sooner possible...

From my part I asked today from Clive on Zebrahost to setup a new server to have a complete new installation of V11 and republish everything again on the new machine -- maybe this will solve the problem.

I have tried all other possible solutions - nothing works.

And this is annoying because we have to spend so much effort on this problem that we lost the enthusiasm on the so many other new features and enhancements of V11 !!

                      Thank you,

                      Marios

I am running IE9 64bit. I agree, browser compatibility should be a manufactures issue and not something a consumer should be concerned with. if Clive solves the problem for you, I guess I'll be next in ;ine. But again WAY to much effort to fix one problem!

                          Re: a5wui not found

A5WUI indicates that the server attempted some kind of UI method from a background thread. we have been unable to reproduce the bug, but we did change the error message (should be in the upcoming patch) to include the name of the method that is failing - so the with the next patch, we should have a much better Idea where to start looking.

This is the message that I am getting now - after the installation of the newer patch

Report did not print. Error reported was:
                            Error calling 'MessageBoxShow' a5wui method.

I am republishing the whole project again to see if this will be fixed - but I don't think so!

                              Re: a5wui not found

Republishing is not going to make any difference.

Your report is failing because A5 is trying to bring up a message box on the server. No UI is allowed in an app server for obvious reasons - there is no one on the server box to respond to the message!!

We need to identify why in your case (and this is something specific to you - it is not a general problem), Alpha Five is trying to bring up a message box.

You might start by trying to identify if the problem is specific to a particular report, or happens with any report.
