Using Alpha5 v11 web
I have a number of Microsoft Word documents (about 50) that are highly structured i.e., all paragraphs are using bespoke styles and are numbered using legal numbering 1.1, 1.2.1 etc. I need the user to be able to pick any or all of them in any order to assemble into a single document. I have tried saving this as rtf files and Microsoft Word allows them to be assembled into a single document and adjusts the paragraph numbering accordingly.
Ive tried adding the files as blobs to a SQL table and as rtf objects to a SQL table and they look ok but reports treats each record as an individual object with no links to the previous record so the paragraph numbering does not update.
Ive tried using xbasic function from an Ajax call back to fire up Microsoft Word on the server and assemble the document successfully saving and writing a record through VBA to the SQL server. But the problem with this is I cant seem to pass data from Alpha5 to Word by writing a txt file to a folder (would seem to be a good idea to use the users session folder) but how can, when starting Word tell it the name of the session folder.
I may be going about this all wrong and Im running out of ideas of how to approach this. Can anyone point me in another direction?
Regards Jon
