Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Linked Grid not showing

Copied my A5V10 project to A5V11. Other than the data problems I'm having in an earlier post I now go to a grid that has a Linked grid but no data appears in the linked grid. The V10 works as expected, and running locally in V11 works as expected, running it live online in V11 doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Re: Linked Grid not showing

I have tried creating a brand new project in A5V11, a simple test, one grid with a linking grid - no luck. The first grid shows but the linking grid is not showing. Surely A5V11 allows linking grids. Has anyone else run into this? Very frustrating because I dn't know where to look now.

    Thanks

Are you using AVG Internet Security?

        Hi Steve,

I don't use AVG but I do use F-Secure so I'll see what happens when I turn it off.

          Hi Steve,

No luck on turning off virus checker. I read the other link and I changed it to a Row Expander and that works but Linked Grids does not and it's Linked Grids that is required.
          Any other ideas?

No other "great" ideas. Some thoughts:

            Try another browser.

            Try another computer.

Create linked grids from scratch in V11 and see if they work correctly, as opposed to your V10 "converted" grids.

Make sure your server version and build matches your development version and build.

              Hi Steve,

Try another browser. IE/FF/Chrome - all the same problem.

              Try another computer
. I'll give this a shot and see what happens.

              Yep, they are the same.

                John,

FWIW I just "converted" a v10 app running under v11 and it works properly with respect to linked grids.

                  Hi Peter,

Thanks for letting me know. If I can't get this working it's definitely going to be a problem. I'm having other problems with V11 too, data being read from the wrong directory for one and I thought I'd try the Gallery component following Selwyn's example at http://www.ajaxvideotutorials.com/V1...QuickStart.swf but my screen show no images, just blank. Maybe the images aren't on my pc. Do you know what directory they're supposed to be in? I' wondering what else is about to surprise me.

I'm using Win 7pro, not sure if that's part of the problem or not.

I'll keep at it and see what I can come up with but it's getting annoying.
