Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Running A Saved Operations from A5 Web Component.

      Here's how I do it.
      1) Rightclick the operation in the developer version. Select show xbasic. Copy the script.
      2) Make a new blank page in the web project and save it.
      3) Click 'Insert Xbasic' and paste the code contents into the blank xbasic code editor. Fix any references to table names to have [PathAlias.ADB_Path]\ prefixing the table name. Remove any references to forms or gui notices. Save the page.
      4) Add some javascript on the page with the xbasic to close the window.
      5) Open the grid you want to call the operation from. I have the 'button genie' addon, so I use that to add a button on the grid toolbar that calls the page that has the xbasic code to run the operation.
When the user clicks the button, your operation will run.

There is probably an easier way to do it with javascript, but I haven't figured that out so I use the above to create buttons to run operations. Best wishes!

Re: Running A Saved Operations from A5 Web Component.

Change tbl = table.open("c:\IntAppDataFolder\HRDB_Data\rogers_masterdb") to tbl = table.open("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\rogers_masterdb") and see if that works. Your web server uses the path alias.

Also, remove this under 'ON ERRO GOTO 0': ui_msg_box("Error","Error running Crosstab Operation"+crlf()+error_text_get())

            And, change this : xtab_db_name = filename_decode("c:\IntAppDataFolder\HRDB_Data\Vacancy_CrossTab.DBF")

            To this: xtab_db_name = filename_decode("[PathAlias.ADB_Path]\Vacancy_CrossTab.DBF")

Probably should remark out the last line too: file_add_to_db(xtab_db_name) .

Joann thank you for your help on this one.

I figured it out the problem i was having..

              1) c:\IntAppDataFolder\HRDB_Data\rogers_masterdb this is a linked from my sql db.. as soon i changed it to be a dbf table. it works fine.

Now my final question.. If i want to use the link version of the table how do i change the code?

              thanks,

                Angelo

I do not want to answer the last question. Just want to give you guidance on the operation question. No need to put it in a web page.
                1. First decide when do want the operation to run.
                2. Now open the grid and go to events.
                3. Choose the Server Side Event that suits your decision in no.1 above.
                4. Now paste the code as described by Joann and do the corrections.
                5. The operation will now run on the server without you or any user pushing a button etc. Depending on the Server Side Event that you hve chosen.
