Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Error when trying to refresh grid in V11 with code that worked in V10

    Code that worked in version 10
    Code:
    var rowNum = {Grid.Object}.getParentObject()._selectedRow;
    {grid.Object}.getParentObject().refreshRow(rowNum);
    Other code I've tried in version 11
    Code:
    var vparentobj = {grid.Object}.getParentObject();
    var vparentRowNum = vparentobj._selectedRow;
    vparentobj.refreshRow(vparentRowNum);

    Error
    HTTPRequest Error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    Script ErrorError:Script:" /__a5RunGrid.a5w" line:35
    x_out = a5_ajax_grid(tmpl)
    a5_ajax_grid(tmpl): Argument is incorrect data type

    If I comment out the code the page not longer gets an error on submit so I know this code is causing the problem

    Wow, I just discovered this (almost exact same thing).

    Just installed V11 this week, these files were all running fine under V10, and they run fine under Working Preview, but when I do Live Preview I get :

    500 Internal Server Error
    Script Error
    line 35
    x_out = a5_ajax_grid(tmpl)
    property not found
    rv.keys

    I am using almost identical javascript to yours above in the section that this error is occuring.
    var rowNum = {Grid.Object}.getParentObject()._selectedRow;
    {grid.Object}.getParentObject().refreshRow(rowNum);
    I did not change anything in this file. It's not moving to the correct record anymore either.

      If I add alerts to the code
      Code:
      var vrowNum = {Grid.Object}.getParentObject()._selectedRow;
      var vparentobj = {grid.Object}.getParentObject();
      alert(vparentobj);
      alert(vrowNum);
      vparentobj.refreshRow(vrowNum);
      The alert popup says the parent object name is "[object Object]" when firebug indicates the parent object name is "Locator_GridObj". See attachments.
      I'm on version 2466_3833. I've opened the parent grid and the child grid, saved and republished and still get the error. I've also republished all pages.

        Re: Error when trying to refresh grid in V11 with code that worked in V10

        The problem occurs when the parent grid row, that I'm trying to refresh from the child grid using Javascript show above in the afterGridSubmit, has a field with the Display Format set to <HTML Memo>. As soon as I clear <HTML Memo> from that Display Format the error goes away. I'm sure it's a bug. It was okay in V10 and now breaks several places in version 11 - 2466_3883. I had other errors that were fixed with this version, so I can't go back 2373_3862.

          I'm on the same position.... now am beyond going backwards.

          Thank you for taking time to post what you have tracked, it helps others.

          I seem to have resolved the 500 error. I did the "Bulk updates" of the Ajax and of the CSS style sheets (converted my custom CSS to V11).
          I have not been getting the below error since resolving those.

          500 Internal Server Error
          Script Error
          line 35
          x_out = a5_ajax_grid(tmpl)
          property not found
          rv.keys
          But am still getting an $(ele).display.style error that I cannot resolve.

            Thanks for the reply. You mentioned "Bulk updates". Where is that? Is that an option when you do a publish?

              In the "Web Projects Control Panel", under the "Edit" tab....

              Before I did the "Global Replace of Component Styles" (in Bulk Operations), I went into the Project Properties and edited the Project Profile, making my custom CSS Profile compatible with V11 so it was no longer considered a "legacy" style.

              Good luck!

                  I'm not sure what version this was fixed in but I'm on version 2549_3903 and am no longer getting this error. Thanks Alpha Software.

                    I am running Version 11, Build 2609_3911, and am getting this error. I'm running MySQL. I have two HTML Memo fields in my grid with corresponding TextArea fields for editing their content. If I remove the HTML Memo field property, I don't get any errors. If I leave them as such, error city. I need them to be HTML Memo fields. My "users" don't want raw HTML and they like text formatting.

                    Wondering if anyone is experiencing this issue running the latest latest build --- which I imagine I'll have to grab soon anyway since it has some updates for Sliders in it that I need.

                      I am still having this same problem. I created a simple database that had the problem and sent it to Alpha on 5/18/12 but they were not getting the same error. They asked me to see if I got the error on the upcoming beta version. I have not been able to download and test it.

                        I downloaded the pre-release of Version 11.?, Build 2703-3932, and it seems to have fixed my problem. I had just had to open and save the grid before the error went away.

                          How well is Build 2703 working out for you? Run into any issues in other areas? I've got a lot of Power Search code in my project. Seems like that stuff tends to get broken most often.

                            I just used Build 2703-3932 to see if it would fix the problem. I have never released a V11 version of my app, so I will stay on V10 a while longer. I realize that doesn't help you out.

                            My problem: if a parent grid row contains a field that is set to "<HTML Memo>", then I get an error when I try to submit the child row because it triggers javascript that refreshes the parent row. My workaround is to not refresh the parent row when I submit the child row. I may need to use that workaround if I decide to go to V11.
